Stocking stuffers - or, 3 easy things you'd like from Beth

Post » Sun Sep 09, 2012 9:27 pm

So, like the topic says--stocking stuffers! :woot: This should be easy-to-implement stuff only that you want to see in a future patch or DLC--NOT the stuff that requires new animations (spears) or new perk trees (athletics) or new math (scaling destruction). There's tons of threads devoted to all manner of stuff like that...

Three little things I'd like to see:
  • Black college robes. These are already in the game, sort of, and they're basically a palette swap of the basic college robe design. Look at the Archmage Robes closely: take away the silly, feathery cowl headpiece draqed over the top and you'll see it underneath--black college robes. Some unenchanted version of this we could find on rogue wizards or (better) for sale in Enthir's stash at the College of Winterhold would be truly excellent.
  • Expert-tier destruction staves. These are already in the game, supposedly. I haven't seen them once in 400+ hours of play over level 50, so I'm guessing they weren't quite implemented right, or were taken out last-minute. In any case, they should be there, and more frequently. Again, these could just be added to Enthir's leveled list of gear for sale or added as a random drop from arch-level mages.
  • Matching jewelry for head-ring-necklace combinations. That's right, I want silver sapphire for the circlet and the ring, too, not just the necklace. Same goes for all jewelry pieces--if I can make and in , I should be able to do the same in and . This is really just more palette-swapping and a few text additions to the forge list, but some of us appreciate the consistency in style for our characters.

So, what are your three? What would you like in your stocking for xmas (or even sooner)?

1) The choice to remove the compass.
2) The ability to set specifically the damage taken and dealt, I'd like to play dealing 0.75x (expert) but taking 2x damage (master). Master as of now just makes enemies health sponges, it also levels my combat skills far too quickly.
3) The option to remove the essential status from everyone, remove the 'quest' tags from items and make people run from danger. Also change the random attacks so vampires/dragons prioritise the guards and the dragonborn, whilst every other civilian runs.

Three options for the essential part would be nice, always essential (what we have now), essential to other enemies (so ysolda can't be killed by dragons, only wounded) and never essential (everyone can kill everyone). Everyone's happy.

Lucky you we're a quarter of the way there.

You can remove the compass by simply not activating a quest.

If you don't like seeing it there on your display you can remove the HUD altogether, even if you're on a console.

Many of these things should be included in a single patch, not included as the focus of a DLC.

Destruction scaling. It's the most vital flaw in the magic that needs fixing - yes, well above spellmaking.

I'd also like more armor choices at the higher end - at low end, you've got hide, fur, leather, studded, Stormcloak, Imperial Light, Imperial, Iron, Steel, and so on. But once you hit that next tier, choices become scarcer and scarcer. You've got Dragon (light and heavy) to contend with Daedric now, so how about something for the other three or so tiers in-between?

And a particularly easy one - Greybeard robes.

- Pants (Just like Ragged Trousers. But no need to add another "part", just add more variations of trousers. My Redguard's Ragged Trousers became dirty. Not because he didn't bath! But because of there is no another trousers in Skyrim!)
- Clothes (No, not those silly farm clothes. Nor even those fancy fine clothes. But something more racial, just like Alik'r Grab)
- I don't know what the last.. Umm.. Well then, I hope they can "fix" Dawnguard for ps3 as soon as possible.

1. Ysgrammor armor. More armor in general, really. Especially with capes like Ysgrammor has.

2. And different variations of armor, such as the different variation of the ebony mail for normal ebony armor. That would be amazing. Also, more variations of ancient nord armor like what the drauger have, and the ability to smith a variation of Yngols helmet.

3. I know many will say NO! To this, but I personally love the finishers, and wouldn't mind seeing more of them. The more the better I say, and a meter that controls how often they happen, like on the pc mod.

I always wondered if we were meant to get a shiny/re-textured variant of Ancient Nord armor like we did with the weaponry. Retexture it, give it better stats, call it "Nord Hero Armor" and give it to you at the same time you get the ability to forge the weapons.

You mean a third of the way ha.

But no, that just isn't a solution. I then sacrifice the health/stamina/magicka bars, which I don't want to do. Currently I use a piece of paper to cover the compass, but that still isn't perfect as you can see the nearby locations just under the paper. If I move the paper any lower it would block the health bars of enemies, ridiculous.
