FIX the Dampened Spirits bug NOW

Post » Mon Sep 10, 2012 2:33 am

I've seen this complained about countless times over MANY months, but nothing ever seems to be done about it!

Bethesda, my game is bugged - I cant complete the Dampened Spirits quest therefore allowing me to progress to finish a major part fo the game. IE become the thieves guild master. You've known about this for nearly a year, and we've waited and waited, but enoughs, enough... It's HIGH time you fixed this bug now, that has blighted 1000s of players game experience.

What is happening that bugged it out? seems there are at least 2 ways to prevent this quest from firing. You dont really give any info as to whats happening (which will in turn make it much harder to pinpoint the issue)

according to this: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Dampened_Spirits, you can break the quest either by breaking into the meadery prior (which was fixed in 1.4 based on the info on the site) or forgetting to ask Brynjolf about the meeting.

I believe that if you have had this bugged prior to 1.4, that patch will not fix the issue (not all fixes in patches will be able to fix your game)

It was caused by the " breaking into the meadery" glitch. To my mind a patch isnt a patch if it doesnt actually fix the issue it was designed to repair?

The game is buggy as hell. Some we are prepared to live with, but as this breaks a major story arc, and youd think they would have worked harder at it?!

the thing is unless you have a save prior to breaking into the meadery, I dont think there will be any patch that can ever fix it. Most likely the state your save is in for progress in the thieves guild is set to a value that a patch wont be able to look at and fix to fire off the quest if needed.

Patches will fix as much as possible, some fixes arent retroactive though. some are, some arent just depends on the state of what the bug does to a save file.

While Im pretty sure its not what you want to hear but if you want to finish the Thieve Guild quests, you will most likely need to make a new character for it.
