Hmmm, I once did a character like this, he was a Bosmer too. How vigorously do you want to role play him?

Well that depends on your play style, I recently restarted as a Bosmer myself and decided to take a more... well... evil route this time around (e.g. nothing gets in the way of my goal). Currently I have the lovers stone activated so I can receive 15% bonus to all my skills.

My skills I currently use are -
  • Archery
  • One Handed (axe)
  • Destruction/illusion
  • light armor
  • blacksmithing
  • enchanting
  • alchemy
  • lock picking
  • sneak
I suppose if you want to be a ranger/scout you would need to gain access to areas others cant so increasing the lock picking, sneak and pick pocket skills, I would also suggest going with light armor.
The weapon choices are up to you but I imagine a ranger/ scout would use a bow as well as a close ranged weapon when don't go as planned.

There are a few ways to role play this kind of character my save beforehand was a Dunmer Ranger who strived to help those in need, while being conflicted with nightmares of his past and his quest to gain power but not change who he is, I could write on about this but I'l end up writing a 500 page book

I'd leave magic out of the Ranger build, it makes things far too easy.

If you thinking of Ranger and playing a "good" type character I'd stay away from the thieve's guild, and possibly the companions and just be an "adventurer" Join the Dawguard only.

I might go with that thanks. What about the only food I eat is meat and I can only hunt for my food?

I wouldn't go as far as saying he will only eat meat, but if your going to be an adventuring Ranger i'd go with Alchemy, you'll be spending alot of your time exploring in the wilds, and theres tons of stuff to pick up. Plus you don't have to go into town just to buy some potions.

That's a good idea. live off the land e.g. hunting deer, fish etc... only using the items and ingredients you find while exploring. It would certainly make the game interesting.

The reason I suggested the meat thing was of the Green Pact of the Bosmer people. They can only eat meat no vegetables plus my Bosmer was raised in Valenwood.

Calm spells are a great way to keep the local wildlife from attacking you. It helps create that sense that you are a part of the wilderness, rather than being an outsider. If you are on the PC, then one or both of the mods linked in my sig might also interest you. One makes all animals friendly to you by default, the other allows you to summon them.

I actually might try that. Unfortunately I do not have a PC :cryvaultboy:
