What race and magic school?

I am building an offensive archer, which doesn't use sneak or utilise a long range from his enemies to his advantage. Instead, he focuses on a frontal assault towards his enemies - offloading as many arrows as quickly as possible into his enemies before switching to his fists to finish off any stragglers.

Current Perk Spread:
  • Archery
    • Overdraw 5/5
    • Eagle Eye 1/1
    • Power Shot 1/1
    • Quick Shot 1/1
  • Heavy Armour
    • Juggernaut 5/5
    • Fists Of Steel 1/1
    • Cushioned 1/1
    • Conditioning 1/1
The archery perks focus on doing as much damage as possible with the bow and also doing so as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, I choose heavy armour over light armour because it can offer greater unarmed damage and also offers the most protection for an offensive character.

Questions:
  • I want to add another skill tree into the mix because, at the moment, the gameplay is looking a little bland. What skill tree do people here recommend? I am open to any suggestions, but stay away from melee weapon trees and also thief related trees such as sneak and pickpocketing. Alchemy could be fun and useful for poisoning some arrows perhaps? I'd also like a magic tree because I always enjoy doing the Mage quests.
  • Whilst I know the Wood Elves are best for archery, this build is going to utilise unarmed quite frequently as well and perhaps even a bit of magic (restoration, at the very least). So, with that in mind, what race do people here recommend?

Khajiit for the unarmed bonus.

As for a magic school, any will do. Perhaps Conjuration to take some of the heat away from you?

You could try Khajiit with Conjuration-bound bow. I played this on master, except I wore robes.

I second this. Bound Bow is very powerful, and you can always conjure up a helper if things get rough.

Conjuration. Conjure your bow, conjure an elemental, and beat the piss out of anything that gets in your way.

That might be fun, as Conjuration is undeniably the more powerful of the magic schools and it would give me a good excuse to just go through the mage quests again because I utterly love those. I've never played through as a Khajiit before also, so that could be fun! On a slightly off-topic note, is the new Hearthfire DLC any good?

Would work nicely I think, plus I could do the bound bow if I want because it is a pretty good bow. How much damage does bound bow do?

With the boost damage perk its equivalent to a daedric bow I believe.

Cool, I'll take the atronarch perks and bound weapons perks then in conjuration also since conjuration levels up really quickly. What is a good role-play for a Khajiit?

Well, Khajiit are stereotyped as thieves and swindlers, so you could go the opposite direction of things and be the noble khajiit, looking to go against the stereotype.
