Skyrim Gets FPS Lag When Not Charging

Post » Tue Sep 11, 2012 6:42 am

So I've been playing skyrim ALOT and for a long time... Yes, I have had this problem for a while, But it started becoming an issue more and more as time went on... I really would like to be able to play skyrim portably without the FPS lag... It needs to be plugged in at all times otherwise there will be lag. My laptop is an Asus Republic of gamers, All specs are great and everything's fine. It's just when it isn't charging I get random frame rate drops. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I guess your specific laptop have various battery saving features that kick in while it's not charging, which at the same time lower the performance.

Go into the Power Options menu. You get there by clicking on the battery in the taskbar and selecting one of the links. It may be a right-click. You may be able to get there another way, but that's the way I know off the top of my head and without booting up Windows.

I've been there. It's set on high performance already. I wouldn't know any other way... I just found out It's only skyrim, too.

I'm assuming you've got a Nvidia GPU, that's the main one used in the G-series, but you haven't mentioned anything of much use.

In there, check to see if there's a setting for the power or something. Also, check the Advanced Power Settings in the main Power Options screen to make sure everything else is good.
