Enchanting doesnt change item appearance?

If i enchant a sword with a frost effect, shouldnt it be on frozen over? When i use the frost cloak spell this happens.

Chillrend has the frost appearance
Dragonbane has the shock appearance,
I dont know of a flame one though.

Why cant i enchant my items to have these effects?

inb4 mod it, im on a console unfortunately.

Did you try drawing the weapon? So its equipped and in swinging postion? or did you just enchanted, equip it look at it on your back or sheathed.

A frozen blade would be quite brittle and would shatter trying to hit armored foes. Enchanted weapons from my knowledge, cast the effect only on the strike, Although Chillrend, and Dragonban has effects, they are unique weapons, and are the exception to the rule.

Enchanted weapons do have a soft "glow" or sheen to them though.

flame enchanted has reddish orange patches i've noticed. also damage stamina has greenish patches. but you can only see the effects on the weapon while they are drawn and easiest immediately after drawing them as it fades.

As others have said, when you draw an enchanted weapon, it does have slight magical look. It also does a sort of sizzling sound.
