How can I roleplay this?

Post » Wed Sep 12, 2012 10:46 pm

My current character is an Imperial whose father was a Priest of Arkay. This means that he was around dead bodies a lot being around his dad. After being around them for so long, he absolutely hates them. He also wants to not disturb their bodies, which means no looting of any corpses.

But here's my problem. I'm currently level 20 playing on expert, so higher level things are tougher to kill....and I loot those higher level things (Bandit cheifs, dragons, a giant or 2). I was wondering if somehow I could incorporate that into my roleplay without driving me nuts or should I roleplay something that makes my character realize what he's done is bad and stop looting bodies.

Thanks for any advice. :)

I tried to RP a paladin-type character once in Morrowind, and he wouldn't loot corpses. I quickly realized this wasn't practical and decided, instead, that I could remove possessions from the recently dead, but I couldn't disturb interned dead.

In short, no crypt robbing.

This still proved challenging, but it was possible and it did add a lot to the experience.

If you want to stay closer to your original concept perhaps you could allow yourself to remove items from the recently deceased providing you preform some ritual afterwards: a simple heal or bless spell cast on yourself, or if you want something more involved you could try ablutions.

You don't HAVE to loot corpses to get good gear. You can stop to chop wood, collect ingredients and make potions, and buy soul gems to enchant items to make your money for better gear.

Besides that, if you go into every random dungeon, the chest usually has up-to-date stuff your character can use.

I've two characters that will not loot dead bodies, but define dead. They won't loot Draugr, or Vampires, but things and people the've just killed? Not necessarily subject. One is a Paladin. She takes only valuables, gold, gems, what not, and donates what she doesn't need, but nothing off of abominations like Draugr or Daedra or Vampires, that stuff is unclean. The other is a superstitious barbarian. She won't take anything off the dead, previously or otherwise, unless they're "gifts" from her ancestors. IOW, she takes Ancient Nord gear, and any gems/gold from Draugr that attack her, but nothing but gold/gems/jewelry from anything else.
