Hi guys, I have a problem with the Jarl of Falkreath. Basically I have Hearthfire and I want to buy the plot in Falkreath but apparently you need to do a quest for the jarl before you can buy the plot. The quest you need to do is Kill a Bandit Leader, which you can only get after the quest where you kill the vampire for Dengeir of Stuhn. I did that quest but I can't get the kill the bandit leader quest. No idea why, I've done a few bounty quests for the hold hoping that might do something but nothing.

Also I sided with the Legion, so I can't force a new Jarl to take over. It's really bugging me. Can anyone help?

Im on Xbox and I have no prior save.

You may want to check the Hearthfire forums. I've seen several similar posts there and a few ideas that have been offered seem to have worked.

I considered it but it's not strictly a Hearthfire issue, it's a vanilla skyrim quest, it just happens to be preventing me from using Hearthfire. :/

Have you received a letter from the Jarl of Falkreath?

Nope, nothing. I've spoken to the Jarl, his Steward, Dengeir, the guards, heck I even considered talking to the priest in hope I could get some sort of divine intervention (it didn't work). It's bugging the hell out of me.

Yeah, this is sounding more like a Hearthfire specific issue. At least, from what I've read in the HF forums.

I couldn't get the quest either at first. I ran off to Dawnstar thinking I could maybe get the Thane situation moving there. I picked up an old character and apparently haven't attained these titles for many of the holds like my later characters. Anyway, while I was in Dawnstar trying to get that moving, the courier showed up with a letter from the Jarl and that started the quest line for Falkreath.

Perhaps going about other quests may help. I've seen other say that they completed other active quests and then, bang! Things began moving in Falkreath. Hope this helps. I'm out for coldbeer and Hearhfire.

Yeah I thought that maybe if I do some Falkreath quests it'll show up in it's own time, time will tell, I've just done A Daedra's Best Friend and I'm going to do I'll met by Moonlight soon.
