Duel wield secondary skills?

Post » Thu Sep 13, 2012 10:34 am

Untill now I have never used dual wield. I'm only level 4 and so far I really really like it. I made a Nord like normal because they are in my opinion the biggest and best looking race in the game. I was wondering what I should use as secondary skills?

I was thinking restoration to heal of course and maybe use a shield when an enemy is really powerful or to four mages and change things up. But what about ranged?

I searched "dual wield" and nothing about secondary skills popped up so I thought I would ask.

It depends on what you're dual wielding.

I would back up dual wielding melee with Destruction, but you might prefer Archery... either way, you need longe range fighting ability. Also, if you're into fighting up close, Restoration is desirable. Not a lot necessarily, but enough to heal damage.

Shouts are not skills, but I recommend Ethereal or Whirlwind sprint, which will allow you to close with an enemy quickly, without getting hurt.

Heh, when I first read your topic title, the first thing that popped into my mind was that it was going to be a proposition to being dual-wielding into noncombat skills.

Anyway.. That depends on what character archetype you want to use. From the way you put it, I'm guessing your Nord is going to be a warrior sort.

Would recommend you decide what class of armor you want to use early and focus on the Smithing tree half tailored to it. Then, like you said, Restoration would not be a bad idea, though you would have to level your Magicka capacity to keep up with later-game restorative spells. If you're going to go for the quick dual-wielding type, I'd suggest Light Armor, but if you want to 'tank' him (make him a damage sponge that slings swords around willy-nilly) I'd go for Heavy. I've found that Destruction works well with the warrior characters (at least for me).

If I'm wrong and you're going to go for the stealth model, go Light Armor, Sneak and Lockpicking and consider Illusion and Alchemy.

Of course, this is all suggestion based on how I play the game myself. Results will vary, as they say.
