It seems Apple won't stop until they sue everyone who has anything to do with apples.

They should sue apple producers too. I mean, some people might think of the fruit when they hear "apple" :teehee:

It's getting to the point that I wouldn't put it past them. Have Apple patented apples now?

Thing is, they say they're doing it because other people are benefiting from their reputation; if they keep this up, it's a reputation nobody else is going to want.

I can't see any way in which a reference to a pilloried world war 2 computing pioneer killing himself can be inferred from the grocery store logo.
Also, would you want a job in the PR department of a company with a legal team like this?

I was actually surprised at first to hear that Apple was suing Samsung.

Apple has a really hefty contract with Samsung because Samsung is where Apple gets the technology used in their microprocessors.

Why would Apple sue one of their biggest suppliers? That's ridiculous. If Samsung goes out of business, so does Apple until they find a new manufacturer. (Of course Samsung won't be going out of business anytime soon, but why would Apple bite the hand that feeds them?) I suppose that since they are in a legally binding contract, Apple's suit won't void it. So Samsung is kind of stuck feeding this spoiled brat.

Now to hear that it is suing a little grocery store in Poland? There are a lot of more bigger brands out there that use apples in their logos, why don't they go after them?

Apple is on a power-trip.

Samsung goes bankrupt, Apple buys them out, Apple gets free technology for their microprocessers and sells obsolete tech to other companies.

Isn't there some kind of requirement in cases like this that the use of the similar logo/name has to happen in the same, or at least a related, industry where consumer confusion is a reasonable expectation for it to be considered infringement?

It's hardly likely people are going to think a multinational software and electronics company has suddenly branched out into fruit sales.

Yep, I'm pretty sure that's the only way they avoided a lawsuit from Apple records.

I think you may be in danger of talking sense. That would never do when the legal department are up to the litigious equivalent of BCSD.

I seem to recall that the condition was that they stay out of the music industry; I'm not entirely sure how they ended up getting away with that.

At this point, I would throw a party in celebration if Apple went completely bankrupt and collapsed under its own gigantic ego. See if I ever buy any of your products now, you self-absorbed [censored]wads.
