I've been waiting for the patch to marry the thieves for a long time now. Specifically Sapphire, and I'll explain why. She seems like a cold hearted witch when you first talk to her, in fact one of the first things you see when you enter Riften for the first time is Sapphire shaking down a guy for not paying up. So I understand how a lot of people I talk to don't really like her all that much, but most people don't take the time to talk to the woman.
Spoiler
Taken from the Skyrim WIki because I'm too lazy to listen to her and type it out word for word:
When she was a young woman, she lived on a poverty-stricken pig farm with her parents. One day, http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Bandit attacked the farm, killed her unarmed non-hostile parents, and abducted her. They repeatedly [censored] and beat her. One night, after gaining the bandits' trust, she got her hands on a dagger and cut the throat of each and every one of them as they slept.

Honestly, this makes me absolutely adore the woman. She suffered for obviously days, maybe weeks or months, and still never broke. On my thief character I refuse to marry anyone else because I love Sapphire, she's the only one that I really actually want to marry. So, the real problem here is that there's no way to marry any of the thieves, even if you're the Guildmaster, or have a house in Riften. I can understand the thieves not wanting to leave the base of operations (meaning Riften) but if I own Honeyside and I'm a thane of Riften, why not?!
