This idea actually intrigues me...
I mean...What is the blade of Keening made of?

Might be a touch too High Fantasy for some, but I wouldn't mind melting down Soul Gems to craft a crystaline weapon of great justice.

Soul gems and soul gem fragments. I mean, look at glass weapons, for crying out loud...

Throw in some ebony, for a solid base and BAM!...Umbra is back!

Would unarmed be a new weapon class?

Somewhere down that perk tree should include Sparta Kick and Tyson Uppercut that send people flying :D, charging double leg takedown follow by beating the crap out of the guy on the ground. Or maybe some stealth neck break or scissor takedown from behind

What was Bethesda thinking NOT to include unarmed in Skyrim? :stare:

You mean weapon crafting material. Weapon classes are daggers, swords, axes, bows, etc.

Soul gems seem too brittle to use as weapons, though. But on the other hand, so does glass. But glass in TES is really obsidian, so I guess the volcanic glass is quite tough.

What gave the impression that they were brittle?

Obsidian is black. Glass, in TES, is made from http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Malachite

There are soul gem fragments lying around, right? They can even be grinded into powder(in Dawnguard quest). Even Azura's Star break after being abused.

Yes, and so was Wuuthrad and.Mehrunes Razor

You can grind anything into powder.

Even Azura's Star break after being abused.
Sure it was. Just like the weapons listed above.

OK... but I think it's more economical to use soul gems for... ehh... trapping souls. If soul gems were to be weapon-grade material; I think the Dwarves would have them made already.

Or maybe it just a way so you don't have a soul-gem sword that would never run out of charge.

Just because something is not already implemented into the game does not warrant the lack to suggest a new.

What would make sense though... are soul gem arrows. You can hand-load them yourself so you don't have to get into those situations when all your Grands have petty souls in them

That would be extremely helpful when you don't want to waste one of your enchantments for your bow on a soul trap enchantment.

I could easily see any weapon type. They would just be more or less infused with a preenchanted ability to Soul Trap. Now that could either mean that the weapon could not be enchanted further..OR it would just be an extra built-in effect. Allowing the player to enchant the player to enchant the weapon further. If they so choose.

That arrow implementation would be the prime example of this.

It would be cool if you could use the trapped soul in a gem as a weapon by shooting the energy out of the gem at an enemy or something

Bit off topic but not really worth making a new thread for, cast on use enchantments for shields might be nice, on power bash paralyse or elemental damages as an alternative to passive defensive enchantments. Similar to Aetherius shield or the Targe.

Agree, but all elemental damage on the shield must have force and explosion radius. I've always wanted a shield that explode with lightning during power bash and send enemies flying similar to how lightning bolt send enemies flying when they die.
