Any chance of Descent 3 becoming open sourced?

gamesas has given us some truly fantastic titles, the descent series being just one. I bought all the descent stuff more than a decade ago and more recently on GOG also. I had recently learned that Descent 1 & 2 had been released and that if we owned a valid copy we could run the updated open sourced versions. This worked fantastic because all the hardware has changed since the old days and a revamp was sorely needed. Now I can play Descent 1 & 2 in Stereo 3D on my 32" 3D TV. It is awesome!

However, Descent 3 is a problem child. It is not open sourced and thus can't be updated. The graphics engine doesn't work in stereo 3D with the current drivers from Nvidia or anyone else.
We can only play Descent 3 in 2D. :( Descent 3 really needs an update if it is to continue being used. Plus, if it was open source like Descent 1 & 2 more functionality could be added. I'm sure would drive up sales on GOG (because you have to have the original to play the open sourced versions).

Any chance of Descent 3 being released as open source also?
