What is the cheapest way to get Deus Ex?

Post » Wed Sep 19, 2012 1:04 am

I purposely brought the Augmented Edition of Human Revolution, which includes the original for free, with the intention of playing it after finishing the new prequel game. However, the graphics are really bad - even for the year of 2000. There is a mod that upgrades the graphics, but it only works if you actually have the game installed (something OnLive being a cloud-gaming service doesn't offer). So, how can I get this game cheaply? What is the cheapest way to buy it or is it now free or are there some give-away contests for it or anything?

Most places I know of (GOG, steam, etc) sell it for ten bucks.

Lurk around, look for a sale. They recently had a deus ex sale over steam, actually. Not sure if it's still going on though.

Well, you could always check Steam for sales, but it could be a while before that happens. I'd recommend getting it of GOG.com; not only do you get the game, but you get al sorts of other cool stuff, like the soundtrack, for ten bucks.

Deus Ex was actually on sale on Steam just last week, so yeah, as Xetirox said, it will probably take a while until it happens again.

Well, that sure is a pain in the a$$. GOG is good, but I can think of better things to spend ten bucks on.

You only say that because you haven't played it yet. I personally, cannot think of a better use for $10.

Donating to charity? No, but in all seriousness, I don't really want to spend anything on it because I have already brought it - just foolishly on the wrong platform which doesn't allow me to mod it. I mean, I'm sure the game is good, but the graphics are so bad! I mean, even for 2000, the textures are like 32-bit?

If you really want to play it, play the copy you have because that your cheapest option. If you want to mod it just for graphics (which is a pretty lame excuse imho) then you will just have to fork over $10+.

Look for it on E-Bay. I bought it for like 2 bucks + 3 shipping several years ago, and it was in original box in mint condition at that.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Deus-Ex-PC-/261097883231?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item3ccaa5865f .99 cents, $4 shipping, no bids on it, less then 2 days left on it. Just the disc and jewel case, but that's all you need!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Deus-Ex-PC-2000-/140852444541?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item20cb75bd7d .01 cent, $5.20 shipping, can't tell(generic pic), but may come with original box and inserts as it states "Like New". 5 Days+ on it, so some wait is required.
