SHOUT OUT TO THE COMPANY: My copy of RAGE hasn't worked for

I have an Alienware M17x R3 - I'm using an i7 2760 QM (2.4 Ghz), 6GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon HD 6990M card. Operating system: Windows 7.

I pre-ordered RAGE and, while there were initially a few problems, ID quickly released a fix that got it working smoothly and I managed to complete it - once. When I went back to it some time later, the new graphics customisation options had been added in the menu but the game repeatedly crashed and suffered screen tearing. And these days it just crashes when I select to play it from STEAM - I can't even get to the loading screen any more.

I think that some of the automatic patch downloads via Steam have stopped it working with my computer. I've tried reinstalling it several times, but of course those patches automatically download themselves each time.

So here's a SHOUT OUT to the company:

I like this game. I really want to play it through again. I am disappointed that subsequent software tinkering has reduced playability still further. PLEASE RELEASE A NEW PATCH THAT SORTS THIS OUT.
