Vampire Help.

Alas on ps3 so no DG. But I really love the idea of being a vampire. I was wanting some advice that you guys might have on what a good build for a vampire character would be.

I'm not really into making a full on mage character but I don't mind using magic. I really love any stealth type out there.
Any help you guys could provide would be great.

Best type is stealth style combined with illusion. Dark Elves are also good choices for vamps due to their fire resistance.

yeah I was thinking either Dunmer or Argonian. Dunmer for the reason you stated and argonian... well because I love Argonians

I'd say Dunmer and Breton are coolest for vampires. Stealthy skills and a few magic skills is a good choice. Fun to do the Dark Brotherhood as well with a vampire.

Get the necromage perk first, get it early in the game.
The boost it gives to vampirism also works on some perks, but only if you take those perks as a necromage vampire.

There are some interesting insight on playing a Vampire and Vampires in general in this recent thread.
http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1411934-is-playing-a-vampire-annoying/

I really enjoy playing a Vampire in Skyrim. Illusion gets a buff, form being a Vamp so it is almost a given to forego that school.

The Necromage perk does in fact buff the Vampire, but I feel like that is more of a glitch. Besides, one has to increase the Restoration skill to 70 and spend 2 perks, just to get to it.

I have entertained the idea, but I never have advanced the Restoration skill enough to get it. I heavily roleplay and therefore specialize in skills that are fitting of my characters personality. Restoration never seems to make it into that list. I am usually focusing in 1H, Illusion and Conjuration. In the end...I never needed it. Even playing on master. I cannot see foregoing the investment just to get that perk, although, if one has planned to include that school in their build, then that would make it more attractive.

Lately, all of my Vampires have been Imperials, just for the fact of playing a Stage 4 - 24/7. The Racial Power is almost a must.

Yep, and you need Resto 70 to get it. The only way to do that early in the game is to power level it. I don't usually powerlevel, but I did for my necrovamp and ended up level 20 with no offensive, crafting or defensive skills (other than wards), but it was fun facing challenging opponents and as I leveled other skills naturally through roleplay, he slowly grew very powerful. It was a nice progression, since your typical character starts out pretty tough. Once I got resto to 70, I roleplayed him from there on out.

Starting out weak was a nice change of pace. If you want to power level resto, get the atronach stone and stand in the wind at high hrothgar and cast fast healing over and over for about half anhour. The atronach stone will make sure you never run out of magicka while you are leveling. Once you get to 70, you can switch to whatever stone you want, although I stuck with atronach.

Also, after you become a necrovamp, the 25% boost will apply to your stone, but you have reactivate the stone to take effect. So I got 62.5% spell absobtion and plus 62 points of magicka from the atronach stone now. Perfect for a necrovamp mage.

Yes its a level 70 perk.
Easiest gotten with some turn undead grinding.
What I find interesting about playing a necromage vampire is that if you get it early then on the one hand a lot of your abilities are boosted, but on the other hand your high restoration level compared to everything else means youre quite vulnerable to attacks as well.
So its sort of a trade-off.

A necromage though gets a boost against all his spells against undead. And a vampire PC is classed as undead. This means that everything the game considers to be a magical effect gets this boost, including some perks. Enchantments, potions, the level cap for illusion spells, its awesome.

A diligent player has tested what perks are affected if you take them as a necromage vampire and they can be found http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1385179-perks-affected-by-necromage-as-a-vampire/.
The interesting thing is that the bonus remains applied when you lose your vampirism. The only condition is that you take them as a necromage vampire. Dont take the second rank of the slow time archery perk.
