A very odd White Screen issue

Post » Sun Sep 23, 2012 6:45 pm

Hi All,

Just wondering what, if anything I can do about an issue involving the World Eater's Eyrie questline. It seems that no matter what I do, the game goes from being perfectly normal in terms of graphics, to becoming a complete white screen after I mount Ohdaviing and take off from Dragon's Reach. (even though the program is running, since I can hear noises, engage in combat, albeit blindly do the the white screen). The only time I can see any image at all is if I blindly find myself in a stream and angle it so I'm underwater. Though the image is ghostly, and textureless).

I'm running an Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+, with latest driver dated 15 September 2012. (version 9.18.13.623), on Windows 7 64-bit OS.

Is there some sort of incompatibility with any mod? I have dawnguard installed and am currently a vampire, not sure if that makes any difference or not.

Has anyone else gotten a white screen with the game still running otherwise? I've heard of white screen crashes, but not sure if this issue qualifies as a crash, rather than just a majorly annoying and debilitating glitch.

Thanks in advance,
Sturmritter

Go back to an older driver. nVIDIA often forgets to test fully with GPUs as elderly as yours is.

I rolled back by one, but I'll go back a few more and see if that works.

Couldn't get any rollback of the graphics drivers to fix the issue, so I ended up bypassing the exterior skudalfn area by use of console commands. The rest of the game works just fine. No other area (so far encountered) has had this persistant issue. CoC'd to SovngardeStart area and finished main quest without a hitch.

I used to have that card, the best overall driver for it was a forceware 19x.xx version.
