game saves and screenshots major issue help?

Post » Sun Sep 23, 2012 9:38 pm

Not sure what happened as everything was working fine last night when I played. But this morning without changing anything in the game, it seems as if a major problem has occurred.

Autosaves no longer appear at the top of my load or save menu. In fact they show a little further down. My last hard save also appears part way down the list of other saves with my autosaves.

What I also noticed is now if I take a screenshot, it shows I took one and says "screenshot saved" however it does NOT appear in my screenshot folder or any other folder for that matter. If I load from the game menu and just select to start the game where I left off... and it starts me at the last hard save that shows at the top of the list. So I decided to see what happens if I use that save and nope, no screenshots saved, no autosaves appearing at the top of the list.

Should I uninstall and reinstall? Or did I accidentally do something I'm not aware of.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Saves are kept in date order. Did the date on your computer change?

you know... it did.

I realized this morning my computer said it was tuesday sept 22 2020 so I changed it to todays date.

If that is the problem... how do i fix it? just re-save everything?

If it could only be so simple! I hope so. Gonna try loading every hard file and re-saving them and see what happens. Thanks!

*edit*

how I even manage to turn on a computer I have no idea. Looked through my screenshot folder and found all the missing pics. Sure enough the ones I took last night show Sept 2020 and my missing ones were found between them and the ones I took while the clock was on time and date. wth lol

You might have to delete the saves with bad dates. Someone else also just had this same problem and Skyrim pukes when you try to load it with the bad saves for some reason.

by seeing where my autosaves are located, it would be safe to say everything above them has the bad date right? I have not loaded one of them to see what happens.

Since your date jumped forward, that sounds right, but I would look at them carefully to be sure. There is a progam out there called Wrye Bash, that will let you take a close look at the saves. I don't recall for sure, but it might even let you edit the date. Might be worth a look. I think it is on Nexus.

you have been a great help and yuou solved another issue I had. I couldn't figure out last sunday why all of a sudden my computer lost its certification for internet explorer. I couldn't stay logged into this forum. I couldn't log into anything. Well looking at my saves and screen shots... it was last sunday that for some reason the date got changed to sept 9th 2020. I just rechecked my certifications and they are back.

From now on I'm checking the date before loading Skyrim. I also deleted my current saves as they were back ups anyway and everything is in proper order. I've created a save folder for all the screen shots with the wrong date on them as well.

Again, thank you.

Hey, I'm glad it worked out for you. It's one of those little things nobody thinks about. Have a good one.

Now if only I can figure out why it changed the date 8 years ahead...

I suspect that if the battery is getting weak, you could get odd results. But that is just a guess.
