Regenerated INIs are not original?

Post » Tue Sep 25, 2012 10:31 am

when i delete inis and let the game make new ones, i can tell they are not the same as when i first started playing the game (on Ultra). it's like the new ones are keeping some tweaks from the old ones somehow. i have all mods unchecked. but i do have mods installed like Distant Terrain aand LOD mods. the mods are just unchecked, not uninstalled. so is it because some mods are still in Data and Scripts folder, and that's what's causing the regenerated inis to be different than the originals?

oh and i think i accidentally deleted my backup original inis i made after 1st installing the game. so if anyone could give me pure untouched originals, that would help my testing.

in fact i've been tweaking inis for so long i'm about to go nuts and stop playing lol. so if anyone has any custom inis that are stable i'd love to get them. been playing on Ultra, everything maxed, and with ugrids at 9 (been stable from one end of map to the other). here's my specs...

i7 3770K
Asus z77 Sabertooth
gtx 670 4gb
16gb Corsair vengeance ram

oh and a couple things that bug me even when i had my super inis. shadows popping in just on certain small shrubs. z-fighting flicker in the usual spots. that light shadow "wave" that goes ahead of u as you move forward. reflection on water changing w/ angle of camera (when u look parallel to water u get the sky reflection. u start to move camera to look straight down on water the sky reflection ubruptly disappears). any help appreciated!!

Did you maybe tweak the ini files in the game directory? they are usally named the same but with '_default' at the end.

The regenerated ones are basically copies of those.

If you want truly regenerated then delete the ones in the game directory and verify game cache. Steam will then re-download them.

I also found that I need to actually start a game up before messing with .ini files. Things like water reflection detail don't even show up until you actually load a game. Which is very strange.
