So i'm looking to make a Character who uses his fists! Now i heard that the heavy armor perk "fists of steel" only accounts for the base damage of the gauntlets so is it true that even if you improve them to legendary it wont change anything?

OR what if you put points in heavy armor that change the base rating itself? does that count? ex: i put perks into juggernaut/well fitted/matching set?

It must be true. Heard about it several times, also it would be crazy if improved armor rating would affect.

I believe it is based on the un-improved base lv of the gauntlets themselves. But thats where you can enchant them with unarmed damage from gloves of the purest or what ever they are called.

I've dropped dragons with just fists. entertaining to say the least because they need to land first.

i think that enchant only gloves you 12? damage which is not much at all

get the gloves of the pugilist from a guy in the ratways and then get your enchanting perked up to make a stronger unarmed enchantment

Oh and get the "Ring of the beasts" if you have Dawnguard, it gives you 20 unarmed damage.
