Elder Sccrolls online (no open World PvP)?

Post » Wed Sep 26, 2012 4:17 pm

I searched and didn't find any mention except the fact that you can PVP only in Cyrodill? But no open world PVP? It seems there is another topic on this so I will just make my opinion heard.

Zenimax just re-invented the MMORPG genre and there is a good chance the Elder Scrolls Online just went backward. Every modern MMORPG now has open world PVP, you can't really create an MMORPG game for release in 2013 without the open world PVP concept?? Open World PVP is part of the elements for success these days? It is a mystery why they do this and put the game in trouble already? I'm not even a PVP hardcoe player but on occasion I do PVP and when I do, I would like the option to do it in an open world?

Restricting players to PVP only in 1 zone is too limiting? There is going to be a huge outcry as the release date nears, more and more people especially PVP'ers would want open world PVP as an option.

Again, maybe they will eventually, but it's a mystery why they didn't consider it from the begining?

As far as we know, there is only PvP in Cyrodiil.

Edit: As far as I know :P

YEs, your repeating what I said :-), but I'm not happy about it and eventually so will millions of PVP'ers.

Well I think they're taking it in a good direction. If they have PvP servers, I'm sure it will be open world PvP. Cyrodiil is a pretty big place. I think it'd be plenty of space for PvP.

I'm afraid it's not big enough, they really have to compare it to other mmorpg formulas when it comes to open world pvp. But I'm willing to wait and see ...

They can make something unique by adding a bounty system where you can travel anywhere to kill your mark.

The PvP is more than just killing each other. There are strategic points to capture and ultimately gain the throne of Cyrodiil. It would be hard to incorporate this "strategic point" kind of PvP into the whole of Tamriel. Cyrodiil's big, but it's just one slice of the cake.

I like to test my pvp skills against someone else sometimes.

I don't see why you can't. I think a heated battle between 3 factions is a good way to test someone's skill.

No, what I mean is, to do PVP against 1 player. Lots of times when I quest, I can see an enemy alone and I can challenge him/her 1 vs 1. I personally don't like group pvp.

So battlegrounds , warzones are all designed for group pvp, where as in an open world, there is a good chance you can fight 1 vs 1.

Ohhhh, that's what you mean. Don't quote me, but I recall instanced PvP being mentioned. So there's at least that. But I'm not totally sure on instanced PvP.

Redguard King actually had a really good system for how this instanced PvP should work. Very interesting.

Never heard of instanced PVP, I think your talking about grouped PVE. But If you did hear right, how would instanced PVP work?

For example, if you ever played SWTOR, there are warzones where you could fight against equal amount of players on each side with objectives?

But that again is grouped PVP, it's never a fair fight. The objective is not really PVP it's to win the "game" for rewards?

What I want to do is to PVP against 1 person to see if I'm better? Remember World of Warcraft? they had arenas where you could of fight against 1 person.

The arena is of which I speak. You know the Arena in ES IV: Oblivion? Imagine instead of npc's that you fight, it were real players. That's the kind of instanced PvP that I'm talking about. You could test your skill in 1v1 or in groups.
