Game crashes at load screen. Can,t continue od start a new g

Please excuse my typing.

A few days after I got home from my vacation, on 18 SEPT 2012, my game crashes at the load screen –where you can either start a new game or continue. Over the last couple of days I have tried to troubleshoot the problem by uninstalling all the mods or uninstalling Skyrim all together. Still I have been unsuccessful. Could it have a result of Patch 1.07 that is causing this and how do I got back to patch 1.06? This is really frustrating. Thank you.

You might want to try deleting (or moving elsewhere) Skyrim.ini & SkyrimPrefs.ini, found in the Skyrim folder, inside "My Games".

Also, have you tried a fresh start, just to see if it crashes there too?

Been there. Done that. And, sadly bought Skyrim's tee-shirt. It was working just fine the first couple of days after I got home on the 18th. Prior to my vacation I had no problems with the game or the mods.

Whenever I uninstall Skyrim I delete the folder in "my games" and in "Steam's folder." I have yet to to uninstall Steam all together and reinstall it.

Incidentally, all drivers are and were up to date. Anyway, "How do you revert back to a previous patch, to test that out too?"

You revert back to a personal copy you made of the game files at that point. That's it.

I don't have one that's part of the problem.

Then you can't revert to a previous patch.

It never ceases to amaze me that you can spend two days troubleshooting Skyrim crashes and not doing anything that I haven't been doing along it suddenly works, with all the mods intact from before. Go figure!?!
