is making a mod hard, i play on 360 and plan on switching?

Post » Fri Sep 28, 2012 4:54 am

so i have skyrim on the xbox 360, and im thinking of switching to pc because i found out that xbox controllers can work on them. so, i just want to know, how does it work, if you want to, say, make your own armor, do you need to alter another piece of armor in the game or can you make it from scratch. also, do i need to purchase software or anything, or is the game disk and a computer all i need.

one more question; in terms of mods, what are the 'need to gets', the awsomest of the awsome if you will?

You can make armor by by altering existing pieces of armor or by scratch. From scratch though can be a bit more challenging. There is free software and pay software that can do what you want. What they are though I'm not sure but they do exist.

As far as must have mods almost any one here will tell you that the 2 essential never start the game up without them are:

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3863 & http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4862 . There are many more but even for those who are playing for the first time, I will highly recommend getting those (I say that because I am against modding on the first play through but i always recommend those regardless.

Making a mod is as hard as you decide to make it for yourself
To make armor you will need 3D modeling software such as blender (free) or 3DSMax (Strictly speaking, not free). You can alter existing armor or make entirely new sets, it's up to you.

I will say however that these things require effort. If you want your vision to come to life you can expect to have to learn a little - not too sure why everyone sees learning as such a task  Good luck, hope you are disappointed!

I played Oblivion on the 360 and the main reason I bought my PC was for the Creation Kit. I cannot say yet if it was worth it but I am enjoying myself at the moment. Go for it. Download the game on Steam, that is the only way to get the Creation Kit also I paid just 25 euros for Skyrim on Steam! As for best mods, search for the other best mods threads on here, they have a lot of useful information in them. I would consider Open Cities Skyrim as an essential mod.

No? Disappointment is caused by something not meeting expectations
I was simply implying that creating a mod might not be what you anticipate.

(I say this as most people look at the act of learning as a task due to the way the education system handles things. To make mods, you will need to learn - there's no doubt about this. However, don't let that put you off, I'm just making sure you understand this isn't a "pick up and play" type of process :D)

If you want the "need to gets", I would say check out the Skyrim Nexus. They have a "Top 100" mods section which includs the most downloaded and endorsed mods. Skim through it, check out what catches your interest. I've got ove 200 mods running for my Skyrim game and I still find new stuff. Newest mod I found recently adds in fog during the early morning as well as fog banks to the docks. It's a pretty cool looking effect. Plus, if your computer is pouwerful enough, you can make Skyrim look really, really good with ENB and the FXAA-injector.
