Guards suddenly have the power to one shot kill you with arr

At level 40 I am now seeing this issue in my game were guards suddenly have the power to one shot kill me with arrows or melee.
This happens about once in 10 shots and normally is a power attack or arrow shot.

Sometimes the entire sessions is free from this, but then some with the SAME save game has it often.

At first I thought it was a bug in my combat mod.

Has anyone else who is NOT using my Duke Patrick combat mod seen this as well?

I was reading on other forums a few players talking about this and I am now wondering if it is a bug in the game that is made worse by combat mods or some common issue with combat mods do to some common change made by combat moders?

I am suspecting some damage multiplier type PERK that is given only to the guards is doing this. So then if a mod ups the damage say 3 times normal this perk becomes a super killer.

Unofficial Skyrim Patch corrects the perk all civil war soildiers had to multiply their damage output to function properly.

With the soldiers, it contributes immensely to feeling like you're actually part of an army -- you must rely on your allies to keep the enemy at bay, since you can't just charge in and expect to easily tank everyone.

With guards, it acts as a deterrent.

Here's an idea: don't piss off the guards. Or at least, don't get caught.

Does that apply to regular guards as well? I was testing a few things out in my game last night and aggro'd a Shor's Stone guardsman as part of it. She killed my character in one hit. (Now granted, said character is a squishy mage with ~200HP at level 36, but still. That seemed pretty ridiculous; draugr deathlords don't even do that much damage in a single hit.)

I don't have any of Duke Patrick's mods installed, but I do have the USKP.

Guards are templated on civil war soldiers, so yes. As I said, maybe you'll think twice about breaking the law, now won't you?

mmmm... why the attitude? If I am reading you wrong I apologize.

Well anyway thank you for your help on narrowing this down. Now I feel better that it is not my mod.
However the inconstancy of this is annoying, if the guards are intended to do this they should not do it "randomly".

I will see what I can do to remove this "ability" for my combat mod then. combat is already realistically difficult in my mod, the guards do not need this random one shot kill thing. And some players think it was a bug in my mod as well.

If I seem short-tempered, I apologize. It's just that many people get pissy when the USKP corrects an error and it inconveniences them somehow.

Like this: guards aren't normal enemies; you have to get caught committing a crime. The fact that they do a lot of damage now doesn't hamper non-criminal gameplay, so why the fuss?

The perk only multiplies damage against the player, so it's not as if guards suddenly became able to solo ancient dragons.

Hmm. Not inconsistent for me -- they always seem to do the same damage. Does your mod magnify the power of their attacks, by any chance? Or perhaps, because the guard ability is leveled, that has something to do with it?
