Why are there so MANY torches?

This is the first time I've started a topic so I'll try to make this brief:

Why are there so many torches in this game?

In my many adventures I've noticed this- there isn't a single cave or tomb dark enough to even warrant the use of a torch or to an extent nighteye. Someone once suggested that I turn the brightness of the game down, and so I did, I turned it all the way down but that wasn't the problem IMO.

Look at every Draugr barrow, it looks to me like while these caves havent been entered in centuries, someone keeps throwing wood into the fires that are conveniently placed about every 5 meters. And the caves that always seem to have enough light to look beautiful and majestic and they did a GREAT job with both of those. But in any place that might be slightly dark, there's at least 20 torches to pick up. I looked at my inventory one time when I was overencumbered and I realized I had just over 200 torches that I never used.

I just think it would make more sense for torches to be a valuable asset, more along the lines of being in the middle of a troll cave and poof, your torch goes out and its pitch black. knowing that theres a troll skulking about looking for you and you cant see? I'd start to sweat. (I know its just a game but I like to play it DID)

What do you guys think? Yay or Nay?
