Requires Skyrim version 1.7.7.0.6 or greater, and the official Dawnguard DLC.

This mod is an effort to fix the vast amount of bugs currently existing in Skyrim. If you're experiencing a bug with Skyrim, please report the bug to us in as much detail as possible on http://bugzilla.darkcreations.org/describecomponents.cgi?product=Unofficial%20Skyrim%20Patch%20%28USKP%29. Use the "Dawnguard DLC" version tag to mark Dawnguard issues with. Please use search to ensure that you aren't submitting something that is already there. There are conglomerate entries for object placement (if it doesn't affect gameplay,) text errors and inappropriate dialog (again, that doesn't affect quests or other gameplay) so please use those entries if that's what you're reporting. Thank you and we hope you have a better Skyrim experience!

(Note that all fixes are retroactive unless otherwise noted)

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: "How come {my unfavorite bug} isn't fixed yet?"
A: It's just getting started. This is now when the subtle and devious quest bugs are coming out of the woodwork, so expect many of those to get fixed soon. The Unofficial Oblivion Patch including the Shivering Isles and DLCs took over three years to get to a near-complete state. I expect this will take about two.

Q: "Will the UDGP be an ESM file?"
A: No. At this time, there is no reason for the UDGP to be issued as an ESM fle. If this changes in the future, we will let you know.

Q: "What if Bethesda Softworks fixes something the UDGP already does?"
A: Then, if it's fixed completely, the change will be removed from the UDGP.

Q: "How can I get the UDGP?"
A: When it's released, it will be posted (at least) on Steam Workshop, Skyrim Nexus, TES Alliance, and Dark Creations. Perhaps on other places as well. While in Beta, it's just at Dark Creations.

Q: "Will any text fixes appear in English in my non-English Skyrim?"
A: Unfortunately, yes. Editing the Strings resource files can be done to cause text fixes to only show on the English version of Skyrim, but as these are original resource files, Steam will end up replacing them with the original unmodified ones without asking. The only way I know of to keep the changes is hard-code them in the ESP. Please advise if there's another Strings-based method as I would definitely use it, or if there are translations of the UDGP available anywhere.

Q: "Are the scripting source .PSC files included?"
A: Yes, they're packed in Unofficial Dawnguard Patch.bsa along with all the other UDGP resources. You can use Archive.exe in your main Skyrim folder to browse and extract files from it.

Q: "Why do you include the useless file 'Unofficial Dawnguard Patch.bsl' with the BSA version of the UDGP?"
A: It actually has a use: without it, if you open Unofficial Dawnguard Patch.bsa with the official Bethesda BSA utility Archive.exe (in your Skyrim main folder) the filenames will all turn into gibberish. Third-party BSA utilities still display the proper filenames, but as I want to support the official toolset, I'll include the file so Archive.exe will be able to unpack the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch.bsa properly.

Known/Possible Issues

Version: 1.1

Game Mechanics Fixes
  • The Drain Vitality shout incorrectly had the words for the Marked For Death shout assigned to it. (The DLC1DragonDrainVitalityShout0X copies, not the main DLC1DrainVitalityShout copy) (Bugzilla #3555)
  • The Dawnguard version of the Matching Set perk (DLC1DawnguardItemPerk) did not properly account for wearing the light vs heavy versions of Dawnguard armor.
  • It was possible for the summon effect attached to the Durnehviir shout to be blocked by spell absorption.
  • Fixed a conflict between Dawnguard and a previous official patch that corrected conditions on the Limb Splitter perk. When Dawnguard added Dragonbone weapons to this, the previous fix was overwritten. These have now been merged.
Quest Fixes
  • Arvak's skull was not removed from the player's inventory when returned to his master. (Bugzilla #3446)
  • Fixed a conflict between Dawnguard's changes to "Blindsighted" (TG08B). Dawnguard changed some properties and scripting dealing with the vampire lord form while the USKP had fixed typos in the journal entries. These have now been merged.
  • Getting sent to Arcwind Point will no longer cause the word wall quest to stick in the journal. The location marker property had not been set on the trigger. (Bugzilla #4515)
  • Durnehviir's dialogue lines to the player when at a distance will no longer be too soft to hear.
NPC/Creature Fixes
  • Vampire facial data has been fixed to prevent the USKP from overwriting the changes Dawnguard made to vampires.
  • Radiant quest vampires did not have the ActorTypeUndead keyword assigned and would therefore show up on detect life spells and be immune to light-elemental damage. (Bugzilla #4022)
  • Wolves stopped howling after Dawnguard was installed. Fixed by restoring the vanilla Skyrim idle animations file for wolves (meshes\actors\canine\animations\wolf_idle_spice.hkx)
  • Valerica shares the leveling script with Serana and needed to have her properties updated to stop Papyrus from logging bugs for it.
Item Fixes
  • Fixed a conflict in settings for the Falmer Helmet (ArmorFalmerHelmet) caused by a keyword added for Danwguard and keyword fixes added by the USKP.
  • Fixed a conflict in settings for the Falmer Gauntlets (ArmorFalmerGauntlets) caused by a keyword added for Danwguard and keyword fixes added by the USKP.
  • Fixed a conflict in settings for the Silver Platters (DLC1SilverPlatter01IdleCups, DLC1SilverPlatter01IdleFood). Dawnguard added a visible name to them, while the USKP added vendor clutter keywords. These have now been merged.
Script Fixes
  • Several scripts that log unnecessary debug information have had the debug statements commented out to allow the Papyrus logs to be useful for tracking down real errors.
Placement/Layout/Ownership and other World Object Fixes
  • A copy of Berit's ashes was mistakenly placed in Valerica's lab and has been replaced with a standard bonemeal.
  • Fixed a conflict with Forbears Holdout (Cell -21,16). Dawnguard added this cell to a new DLC location while the USKP made unrelated changes in the area.
  • Fixed a conflict with Redwater Den (Cell 33,-19). Dawnguard added this cell to a new DLC location while the USKP made unrelated changes in the area.
  • Corrected a bad navmesh in the Abandoned Shack (AbandonedShackInterior). Dawnguard disconnected the door accidentally.
