Dungeons you hate

Post » Sun Sep 30, 2012 9:05 am

We all have those dungeons that we hate. You groan as you approach them, and you grit your teeth as your rush through in an attempt to finish as soon as you can. What are your most hated dungeons?

For me, it has to be Blackreach and the Soul Cairn. Both are NEEDED for major questlines, so I have to go through them. And I'm quite a completion-ist, so I can't just go in, finish the objective and leave; I HAVE to get everything in there. For example, I can't leave Blackreach without the 30 Crimson Nirnroot, or else the OCD in me itches away at me. Traipsing around Blackreach in search for little red plants bores me infinitely, and so does walking around the wastes of the Soul Cairn looking for a bunch of tiny pages and spell tomes.

Yeah the Soul Cairn was lame but i would have to say that Dwarven ruins are the most annoying ones, apart from all the loot you can find. They are normally pretty huge and a packed with those incredibly annoying Dwarven machines, not to mention the Falmer. My Favourite would have to be gold mines, obviously.

I don't really hate any of the dungeons, but I prefer to avoid the ones with too much falmer. They get really annoying to fight after a while.

Bleak Falls Repeatabarrow.
It's one of the minor reasons I've stopped doing the main quest on newer characters.
Since I've overcome my fear of Dwemer thingamajigs, I can now tread freely into their dungeons.

The Dungeons should be more darker and confusing like the Ayeild Ruins in Oblivion that's my only compliant about the Dungeon System in Skyrim

Any cave which contains Falmer. I hate those ugly bastards and it's not fun to fight or kill them - I don't know why but it just feels boring.

Dwarwen ruins gets boring after a while. I mostly go after the human/elf/orc/etc dungeons, mainly because they are so amusing to kill!

Blackreach was definitely my most hated, alongside Alftand for getting to Blackreach in the first place. I think I spent about 4 hours making my way through (I got lost a few times + attempting to find all thirty of the thingamajigs for the side quest). Once I left it, I've never returned.

But mostly I hate Dwarven ruins. I don't mind fighting the machines, but I hate the Falmer... and especially the Chaurus. *shudder*

I completely agree with you. They are fun to fight and kill and I love to cut heads off. With the mod called "Crimson Tide" it is even more fun to kill them.

Blackreach. Sure it's awesome and have a sort of eerie beauty, but all that darkness gets on my nerves. After spending a couple of in-game days down there I feel like I'm suffocating. I literally long for fresh air.

I guess I don't harbor any inner speleologist, lol!

You're joking, right? Blackreach and Soul Cairn are just great, and even more if you're an enchanter. They're like a soul supermarket for us :)

For me, the most painful dungeon would be Alftand. It's HUGE, has some painfully difficult parts, and you can't avoid it if you do the MQ every time...it's truly a pain.

Forelhost and Shriek Winds Bastion, especially the latter. Confusing as all get out, I can never figure out which way to go.

Also, as one person put it, "Bleak Falls Repeatabarrow" Yet another reason not to do the MQ, apart from ultra-annoying Dragons.

Anything with Falmer. (Seems like a common sentiment, huh?) The Dawnguard questline drove me absolutely batty with its over-abundance of Falmer. I'm also not much of a fan of snowy/icy dungeons, but that might just be because I get more than enough of the white stuff up here in Canada. Give me a bandit hideout any day.

Incorrect. Simply substitute Aftland with Mzinchaleft by doing Mjoll's quest at the same time. Two birds with one stone, plus Mzinchaleft is a LOT shorter. All you really need is to gain access to Blackreach, there's nothing in Aftland you need for the MQ.

Edit: Oh, I might add that the distance between the Mzinchaleft/Blackreach lift to the Tower of Mzark is much shorter than the distance between Aftland and the Tower. Mzinchaleft is a win/win situation all around.

You can finish Mjoll's quest, deliver Grimsever to her, and then go back to the Mzinchaleft surface lift to return to the entrance to Blackreach, which is right next to the exit.

Meh I dont know about hating any dungeon but I LOVE mines, besides the usual loot I usually leave the place with 10 or more either iron or silver ore, which I transform to gold makes me quite a good profitfor the trip...plus raises my alteration skills
EDIT Mmmm seems many of you dislike dungeons with falmer....
