Wait what systems do you have? if it is between xbox and ps3 than its really up to you I decided on PS3 for the simple fact my live ends the same day dishonored coes out and my controller is busted on my 360 so it will cost me a ton to get a new controller and live but both systems will probably be the same. It is a single player only game so it's not like you need to play with friends. But if you dont have a PS3 and have a Xbox than obviously you dont need to buy a PS3 to play it.

Even running Dishonored at low settings on the PC is probably about the equivalent of playing it on the consoles, not to mention the other bonuses that come with playing on PC. So if your PC is capable, I'd recommend going with that. But if consoles are the only option, then yeah, I'd recommend going with the 360 because with multiplatform games, the PS3 versions are seemingly the ones that always have the most problems, if any.

That's not ALWAYS the case and sometimes the 360 versions of some games could end up worse than the ps3 ones. It is really up to the developers and how they compare but it really doesnt matter for a single player game this isn't call of duty or halo.

I think you still have time to pre-order. In fact, I did mine today.

I would recommend the Xbox 360 version of the game and one of the following (I personally chose Best Buy):
  • Best Buy Bonus
    • Delicate Touch: Noise reduced when breaking glass
    • Voyeur: Enhanced zoom/magnification when peeking through keyholes
    • Deep Breather: Breathe longer underwater
    • Golden Rat in-game statue: Unlocks one additional slot for bone charm bonuses
    • Unhidden Book: "Field Notes - The Royal Spy"
    • 500 bonus coins
    • Whale-oil USB lamp (Exclusive)
  • Gamestop Bonus
    • Void Channel: Duration/Damage bonus for your powers
    • White Rat Friend: White rats are friendly to you instead of hostile
    • Gutter Feast: Eat white rats to replenish your mana
    • Whale in-game statue: Unlocks one additional slot for bone charm bonuses
    • Unhidden Book: "Field Notes - The Journal of Granny Rags"
    • 500 bonus coins
    • Tarrot card set (Exclusive)
      • http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1414166-goodies/ for an example of the cards you'll receive.
  • Walmart Bonus
    • Raven: Health bonus when doing drop-down assassinations
    • Quick Dodge: Bonus for dodging bolts/arrows
    • River Affinity: Swim faster
    • Hagfish in-game statue: Unlocks one additional slot for bone charm bonuses
    • Unhidden Book: "Rumors and Sightings - Daud" (The mysterious assassin)
    • 500 bonus coins

My pre order is for the Xbox version, but I'm sure I'll end up getting the PS3 version too. Its not a deal breaker for me by any means, but the textures on the 360 didnt look all that great.

There you go! He can't say no to that, right?

I would also add that, I'm getting Dishonored for the Xbox 360 because it's a complete game according to the developer. In other words, no planned DLC at the moment. The PS3, in my opinion, is usually a safe choice for DLC-related games simply because buying it there is easier (and sometimes cheaper) than purchasing Microsoft Points. Also, free multiplayer. But, since that doesn't apply to Dishonored and future DLC has not been discussed yet, any system is a safe bet. Hope that helps.

Food for thought: if you were to go the PS3 route---Day One digital, instant midnight and PS+ will give you 10% off (if you were to become a member). There's also a good deal going on, member or not I believe, where if you spend 100 in the month of October you'll get 20 back. Found that out when browsing the One Piece PS3 boards on GFAQs. I'll try to find the blog post confirming that promotion.

Dem cards! But maybe the DLC pack from GS isn't a good fit. Send your boyfriend in here for a minute and we'll browbeat him into a second copy on the other system and everybody wins :P

I might end up going this route since I was considering a second copy, so if I do I'll let you know if it's instant unlock. Someone on e-bay had a copy that was out there, supposedly, for sale now. I inquired to the guy how he got it, told him I'd want expedited shipping and that if it didn't come before the sixth I'd want a refund. He doubled up on what I believe to be a bluff and said if I paid 20 for expedited shipping I could have it tomorrow. Went to sleep and it was sold. I really wanted to message the buyer and tell him/her to do expedited or the delivery estimate (Oct. 3rd-Oct.17th) would just so happen to swing toward the 9th and person who bought it would be none the wiser. Ethically I feel better about not going through with it if it were true. That's a pulled sale from Arkane's pockets. Still, ze temptation.

Yeah those cards are the cat's pajamas.
