missable sidequests

Post » Thu Oct 04, 2012 9:56 am

how easy to miss are sidequests going to be? I have heard of sidequests like a woman running through the alley being chased by goons. That sounds like it would be very easy to miss unless you happen to be looking directly at it. Are all the sidequests going to be so easy to miss or is something done to help to at least let you know that there is a sidequest nearby (not directly telling me what to do just to notify me of its existance)

Makes sense. If a woman being chased by goons starts screaming, "Help! HEEELP!!" That would be a pretty good indication of a nearby sidequest, right? :)

I'm just guessing here, there will likely be a trophy/achievement on the consoles to complete all sidequests, WHICH would mean that some of them are missable and that you have to explore the sandbox area to find some. AND listening to the gameplay vids etc. It did seem at one point that they indirectly said something that seemed like you had to some work to get somewhere for a certain sidequest.

It would be nice if they went the Assasin's creed route and marke possible side missions on your map if you are in a certain proximity of the mission. this would force the player to actually explore dunwall more so

But then again, Dishonored is a sandbox, AC is more free roam, it would almost make it too easy if they marked it on your map, perhaps they should mark it if you're like a house or a small block away, but that would be it imo. Else it would, in my opinion, seem too easy to explore everything.

But yeah a good idea marking it, IF it's a real close proximity ^^

I see. well as long as there's some type of waypoint i'd be fine with that. guess we'll have to wait till next week, unless of course the guy from Arkane or strifecross (havent' seen him in minute) could shed some light

Which makes me wonder, do we even get an in-game map?

OP:

My guess, is that some sidequests will be more obvious than others, f. x. the quests you get in your hub between mission, and the ones where you have to explore, in order to find them.

No, that would do exactly the opposite. It's not exploration if you know where it is.

thats not what he means. He is saying have the markers appear when you are close. Not just appear on a map all the time. You would still have to explore to find them but when you were really close it a marker of some sort would appear to let you know.

I plan on exploring quite a bit. They're probably missable if you have blinders on and are just hell bent on getting to the primary objective. I would think even if you wander a little you'll run into them.

There is also the mechanical heart as a navigation tool.

I read somewhere that the heart had some side effects with it's use. Not to sure as to what those side effects are tho.

And it's wonderful that way.

Fortune favors the perceptive, what can I say? I plan on scouring the maps with a very fine tooth comb like Sherlock Holmes!
