IllusionSneak gameplay

Post » Fri Oct 05, 2012 6:37 am

Is just not fun. Sure it was cool for a while with the nifty throat slashing kill cams. But after a while, it just got really boring, especially with the same exact kill move over and over and over again.

Have maxed out perks in sneak and illusion, but I really prefer the gameplay of a necromage, destruction mage or warrior moreso.

Im going to keep it up for a little while longer to maybe get my enchanting up a bit, but as of right now, its the least fun Ive had with this game in all of my 7+ toons.

Im open to any advice on how to improve the "fun factor" with 100 skill in Sneak and Illusion.

Um...how about using other spells aside from Invisibility? Like, casting Frenzy (or a higher version of the spell) on someone such as a bandit while you are in stealth and watch them go at it with the others. Or you could turn Chaurus Reapers or Giant Frostbite Spiders against their Falmer overlords. There are lots of ways to have fun with Illusion and Stealth, you just need to use the right spells and, most importantly, your imagination.

If you don't like to be sneaky then best not to play the game that way. Kinda like if someone hated to play as warrior with shield and blade there isn't much to talk about how to improve the ''fun factor''. If you don't like cutting people in melee then try magic or ranged gameplay. Simply switch your combat style or make a new character.

Focus on speechcraft and smithing. Collect minerals -> make stuff -> sell for gold -> rule Skyrim ;)

Why on Earth did you go to 100 in sneak and illusion if you weren't enjoying the play-style?. If you just don't like playing a sneaky-illusionist nothing we can tell you will make you like it. Don't force a style on yourself just play the way that is most enjoyable for you.

Here are a few ways my master assassin will kill:

- throat slit, as you mentioned
- sneak suplex resulting in a kill (i disenchanted the gloves of the pugilist and used the fortify restoration glitch to make some powerful unarmed damage gauntlets - only use them in certain situations).
- sneak up to them and pickpocket their weapons, and go fist to fist with them, some great unarmed kill cams appear here
- snipe them with either my bow or crossbow, usually bow if multiple enemies around as it is more quiet
- slip a poison in their pocket, usually paralyze/lingering damage (imp stool, canis root, mara tapellia), watch them fall over and die - poisoned perk
- if they are mages ill slip a damage magicka and damage magkica regen in their pocket and make them go dagger to dagger, usually ends up with thier head being sliced off - decapitation perk
- I carry a base damage long bow to deliver potions via arrow when I want the poison to kill them rather then the arrow itself, use this method to deliver the above mentioned potions and corresponding kills
- will frenzy npcs and watch them kill eachother, I have the illusion perk tree maxed as well, so I can frenzy everything
- when noticed I'll use the shadow warrior perk to perform the "teleport" throat slit
- also when I get spotted I will use the calm spell and then pick a method mentioned above to kill them. I will also use the invisibility spell and the shadow warrior perk to regain my "hidden" status.
- he has the dual weilding perks and smithing perks as he dual weilds daggers so sometimes he will go toe to toe with melee npcs

Thats most of them, i'm sure there are a few more.

If you just use one method of killing for any type of character the game will get boring fast.
