Query installing Deus Ex HM on Steam

Post » Sat Oct 06, 2012 4:05 am

Ive just reinstalled Deus Ex Human Revolution after playing it after its release, i put the disc in and started installing and got a message from steam that it needed to reformat the game or it wouldn't play, last time i played it, was on my XP machine, this time on my Win 7 machine, never had a single glitch, this time around it was extremely glitchy crashing alot, corrupting saves, messing up the display, has anyone recently installed the game and had the same message or any problems.

Some of the games I tried to update recently asked to be converted to a different format or something around Wednesday.

I've seen that a couple of times, I'm not sure what it's for exactly. But I don't think it should be affecting game stability.

Maybe something went wrong with the converting/downloading. On Steam you could try right clicking on the game, go to properties, then the local files tab, and click the 'verify integrity of game cache' button. It'll check if any game files are missing or broken and replace them if they are.

I did that before i started the game, because i was concerned over the fact that it had done something i hadnt seen before, and was wondering why it would need to do that since i didnt get the message the first time installed it.
