iPod Touch, Is a PC with iTunes needed?

Post » Tue Oct 09, 2012 5:11 pm

I know this isn't the best forum to ask this, but its the only one I have bookmarked. I'm tired and want to sleep :snoring:

I'm going to be replacing my current laptop with a new one that I will install Ubuntu on it. I'd keep my current one just long enough to sync what I've already got in my itunes to the touch.
I'd rather not have two OSs on the SSD I'm installing in it, but I would still like the ability to have music on a portable player and still be able to get new songs.

Right now I'm just using an old 8GB iPod nano and synching w/itunes. I might be into buying an ipod touch if not for music, then the apps. (I don't have a smartphone, don't see the point in getting one)

I'm assuming that I can just buy and download new songs, podcasts, and apps straight on the ipod touch through wifi, but is there anything else I should be concerned about?

P.S. Possibly a stupid question, but I assume you can delete songs/podcasts straight from the device right? (I listen to a lot of podcasts and they can fill up space pretty fast)

I'll see what I can say, though not everything is correct(I guess).

Take note of software updates. You have to plug it in to your computer to update it. You can buy and download your songs, podcasts, etc through wifi. It would still be best if everything was backed up to iCloud or your computer, in case you lose everything. You can also delete your songs(not sure about podcasts) straight from the device.

Just note, there could be other stuff I'm not aware of. I actually refreshed the page a couple of times waiting to see if someone would help out with better info, but most people who could give you a better answer are asleep.
