Where's my hero worship?

I just wandered into Riverwood, with my level 40 character...There's that tell-tale shadow, music, swoosh of wings, and panic'd yelling from the guards and populace, so being the dragonborn I slay the dragon...only to have what's his name the elf walk past and yawn...

I turn around, and there's no rushing up of bystanders...no "I wouldn't believe it if...."...no "Can it be?"...No...no nothing...

This is only about the 6th or 7th dragon I've seen this playthrough (with DG and Hearthfire), so, where has all the hero worship gone? It's not like it's commonplace in this game...the dragons are rarer than sober nords...I'm most put out...what's the point of being the chosen one if people are bored already? Pfffft....

I've noticed a marked increase in dragon rarity as well with my more recent games. Granted, I was never tripping over them on a regular basis like some complainers seemed to claim, but now I can make it to the 40's and 50's with only one or two dragon souls obtained in the wilderness.

I never ran into that many dragons. I only ever had extra dragon souls if I was trying to save them for something that would fit RP-wise. I'm actually anxious to get back to fighting dragons.
