No Map? Is this a joke?

Post » Thu Oct 11, 2012 6:33 pm

As above....wtf is this...I have to locate a map on a wall and memorize my goal location without being allowed any reference to it unless I'm standing there? I would be ok with this if maps were linear...but theyre not...theyre giant open play fields with vague clues to "districts" and "streets" which we have no way of locating other than running around until we find it...pro...

For example - the little known safe in the flooded mission, (spoiler alert:), you know after your poisoned by your friends? You find a note, "There's a safe in an apartment in central rudshore..." Cool story bro...because I could not have guessed that there was a safe on the map somewhere without this note...appreciate the tip....now if only I had a map to locate that general area and get started....

Read the post, objective markers don't matter for clues

there is usually a discrete arrow in game that shows you the direction to go in order to get to your target, even telling you how close you are to it in km. maybe you have it off???

There's a reason the game calls them "clues." This is a mystery you need to figure out, not just a Borderlands-style sidequest that you can gallop over to and complete.

I say this without a hint of irony, but in my day we had to make our own maps.

Kids today etc.

And that's why a map would be great with a general vicinity to do a legit search, not of the whole map jesus....that note I got is just as useful as a note that read, "there's a chest on the map." NAWW RRLLYYY you mean like ALL the others?! WOW!

I just happened to stumble across this safe just now, and I wish ALL of you immense amounts of luck in finding it....I'll give you an actually useful clue this time - It's underwater...and in a room that's nearly impossible to spot or get to, and then even more impossible to navigate to the actual location of the safe....enjoy...

That's why your day is past...people used to say that about sliderulers but I bet you would use a calculator today no? Kids today...We might as well throw out every good innovation if that's that attitude lol back to the stone ages I say!

Kid's today and their new-fangled gadgetry. In my day we had to strew bird bones and ox entrails across flattened flint... not sure why, mind.

Superb reference, by the way. :ribbon:

Having a map would kind of defeat the purpose of having the plan things out. To much handholding goes against the ideas of the game.

Comprimise! Map that build itself as you go. I have no idea how they would convey height, though.

Clues are there to tip explorers off but if you don't like it then ignore it. Your not supposed to find everything anyway. The idea behind exploring in this game is that there are so many secrets that each player will have their own story on what they found. Yours seems to be the water chest. A map would be cool I agree, but using it to find hidden stuff is not why I would like it

I think it makes it funner. Not knowing where you're going... That's kinda like how it would be if you've never been somewhere before.
