No looting of unconscious guards

Post » Fri Oct 12, 2012 10:31 pm

Just a quickie, and apologies if already posted elsewhere.

Playing on Very Hard attempting a non-lethal playthough. When escaping the prison, i could only pick the pockets of the guards while they were conscious...as soon as i'd chocked them into insensibility, I couldn't grab their cash. Am I doing something wrong, is this deliberate, or is it a bug?

Cheers!

P.S. Loving the game, about to go on first proper mission....when I get home and the wife goes out

Doesn't sound right to me, are you sure they have anything? If someone has anything to loot you'll see it on their belt like a pouch or a key. Not everyone does.

Yes,it's the same to me as well,i guess they want to reward you for picking up their pockets behind them while unnoticed.
If you knock them out instantly than you are not getting the reward, because its less risky and takes a less amount of time.

Yes, can definately pickpocket while conscious. No option to do so when knocked out.

Maybe so. Still a trifle unrealistic though.

That sounds like a glitch, I've never had that problem... in fact I almost exclusively loot people after I've knocked them out. Which system are you on?

I've actually seen that happen in some playthroughs. That's why it's best to loot first and then choke them out, just in case.

Have you checked your coins before/after to be sure you aren't auto-looting the body?

I've had the gamut. Not being able to loot when they fall, looting before-hand (obviously), and auto-loot upon picking them up. The last might happen because of pressing the button quickly before picking them up. I don't know why it happens sometimes, but I doubt it's intentional. Added challenge, lemons to lemonade.

No; it didn't occur to me, and I didn't spot a visual clue. I shall check this evening. Thanks.

Haha, I had to google the lemons quote. If I interpret you correctly, you're saying that "that's just the way it is". If so, I have to disagree. I don't mind it working consistently (though I'd obviously like to loot them regardless), but inconsistent behaviour ought to be reported (and rectified if possible).

Cheers All!

I sort of meant that, but more since there is a problem, you can see a positive in it being that you can be sure of looting if you do that first before knocking them out and it's additional challenge. But yeah, if it can be fixed, it should.

What seems to happen with me is if I don't pickpocket them first, if I choke them out and let them fall, my options are to tap F to loot or hold F to pick up the body (PC controls). If, while choking them out I hold F to not let the body fall, it auto loots the body at the same time.

I shall check tonight. Could be that picking up the body (holding square button for me) auto-loots.

Whatever the case, thanks for all the feedback everyone!

I think maybe sometimes their pouch (with the money) stays on their body when they die/are made unconscious, letting you loot the body, and sometimes the pouch is left on the ground on its own, meaning you need to loot that instead. I've certainly seen this with dead bodies, don't remember for unconscious (I try to pickpocket first).

If I knock out a guard before looting them, when I pick up their body to drag it off somewhere the pouch auto-loots itself.

PC version.

From my experience, this is true. I had the same concerns as you, but quickly noticed that I had auto-looted the body after choking the enemy out.
