Create a Follower Minor Dlc

Post » Sat Oct 13, 2012 8:00 pm

I was thinking that it would be nice for skyrim fans to have a chance to create they're own follower/marriage candidate. You could choose they're standard weapons and armor as well as skills. Would it really take so much time to develop this in a dlc? I think it would be great because of all the clamour for more marriage candidates or followers. So why not let the players create them themselves?

Not a bad idea. Don't know if it's possible, though.

Wouldn't be much of a DLC.

In reality, it would be a simple script, applied via dialogue options available to non-hostile, and in the case of marrage, Non-unique, and non-Khajiit NPCs. More of a job for a modder, if one that does this hasn't been released. Still, may be worthwile to make for console owners.

Or are you saying that a player should be able to create, from scratch, a marrage/companion NPC that already isn't in the game? If so, then it's not going to be released, period. If Microsoft/Sony won't allow the CK on their consoles, I don't see how they would allow this as well.

Again- depends on what you mean.

If it's create-a-new-NPC, it won't fly, period. If it's to take most NPCs and make them companions/possible marrage canditates, then they could, but it wouldn't be worth more than a buck or two.

If Bethesda put in a new mechanic to let you create your own custom follower/spouse then it would be worth it, but the dialogue would be very general and svcky compared to more specific companions.

A cool dlc idea would be a companion along the lines of the vilja mod for oblivion in skyrim, an extremely detailed npc that reacts to your actions and current quests. Adding more shallow npcs doesn't seem that appealing to me, and i play mostly on the xbox. The main thing would be adding the create-a-npc into the world in a believable way, if done wrong it would just seem tacky

A new mechanic would work, but there's an issue of how would it be implemented? At start? Makes sense, but it would cut out anyone with older characters. Later... and it would break immersion and feel wedged-in.

If the OP really wants this, he should get a computer that can run Skyrim. A little experience with scripting and fiddling with NPCs, and he'll be able to do just this.

You would go to an NPC like the face sculptor. He/she offer to find the Dovahkiin a companion for a fee of 2000-3000 gold, and upon agreeing you would enter a variant CG menu where you're editing an NPC instead of your characters appearance/race.

The menu choosing skillset, equipment, etc would be a menu with a kind of contract(a resume kind of deal) GUI and you would click and change various things via that. Thats my idea for it anyway.
