The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide

Years ago I was in a book store looking through the science-fiction section when I came across The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide. I was only 11 years young at the time and I scanned through the book, admired its fancy cover, then proceeded to purchase it. I quickly lost interest and put the book in my dad's bookshelf.

Just last week I found it on another bookshelf and it was in mint condition. After a few chapters I couldn't put it down. I've never read such a great sci-fi book that contains so much humor. The version of the book I have has all 6 of the Hitchhiker's Guide books all in one.

So who has read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? What did you think of it?

11 years young.

Anyways, I've never read them, but have been slightly interested from time to time.

The author is very creative and he has a lot of whacky ideas that are very interesting. Let's just say it involves the destruction of planets, traveling through hyperspace, aliens trying to understand and communicate with each other. Oh yeah, and the meaning of life.

I have all of Douglas Adams books and reread them periodically . He is a very good and imaginative author. The starting events where Earth was to be destroyed to make way for an intergalactic freeway is just so original and a great starting point. I don't have the Ultimate edition but I have all of the books in hardback editions.

If you like the Hitchhiker's Guide, you should check out L. Ron Hubbard's Mission Earth series. It was lambasted by the critics but I think it is a very good and entertaining sci fi series.

Some of the best sci fi books I have ever read; it restores some of my hope in humanity whenever I hear of someone loving these books. I recommend Terry Pratchett's Discworld for a similar writing style and similar humour.

I have that same book. One of my favorites, and the first book I read to my son at night.
