How to beat the dragon at Skuldafn?

Hi there!

I know that especially in the earlier days of the game, people complained about dragons being too weak. My problem is that "my" dragons are quite the opposite. Now at Skuldafn, a golden/bronze dragon attacks directly after I arrive.

I have no clue what to do: I already stand no chance against the green blood dragons. An ice dragon once trapped me in some bandit hideout near Mt. Karth and it took me an hour and a ton of luck to flee and stay alive. The battle against Alduin took me several dozens (!) of tries, I guess this encounter was my hardest boss fight to date, it was even harder than Irenicus from Baldur's Gate 2 :drag:

I am on PC, something must be going wrong here. I just checked the health of the Skuldafn dragon before it started tossing me around, it still had 5.000 HP, according to the uesp, this should not be the case with a "Elder Dragon".

Here's my character:
  • Heavy Armor, Blocking and One Handed at almost 100
  • About 350 health and stamina
  • Armor rating about the same
  • Dragonbane, Dragonpriest staff, Rahgot mask, Sanguine's Rose, Mixed heavy armor
Anything I'm missing? I know I'm a horrible player but lowering the difficulty is the last thing I'd like to do since most other enemies are rather easy. It's just the dragons that are somehow off.

Spoiler Alert...

Do you have any Resist Enchantments? Those will always save your hide.

I also hate being spoiled, I tried not to go into story details. I removed the name of someone if that's what you mean.

No enchanted gear but a lot of resist potions I brought with me. However, the dragons also do a lot of damage in close combat. But the greatest problem is their amount of health.

Maybe there's something like a console command for this matter?

I forgot that we are in the Spoiler thread, I'm on console so I cant give you any CC, but having a follower really helps. Using Archery or Ranged Destruction Attacks help. If you are able to get a Storm Atronach those help too.
