Dishonored the greatest stealth game ever? : Othor Games

I thought I would never say this, but I think Dishonored is the greatest stealth game ever, it's atmosphere, gameplay, location, and setting are all amazing, I also find this to be the funniest stealth game iv'e played, anyone else agree?

While it is a very good stealth game, I think http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thief:_The_Dark_Project and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thief_II:_The_Metal_Age are even better.

Sorry bub, the Thief franchise sits firmly in first place.

But Dishonored has knocked Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory of the Second place

Due to the guards utter cluelessness about doors flying open right in front of them, I have to say no.

In Thief I and even the original Deus Ex IIRC they would at least react to me throwing open doors. Thief even had dialogue for it. "That's not supposed to be open! Who's there?!?"

Metal Gear Solid 3 has better stealth mechanics in general (Camo Index, investigative guards, using trapped animals to scare away guard dogs)

Don't get me wrong, Dishonored is a very good game, but hardly the best stealth game I have played.

No, it's just behind Thief and Thief 2 on that front-- but that's a very laudable achievement.

As someone who has never played a Thief game, I'd say yes.

This is me right here. I don't frequent stealth games, but Dishonored is fantastic.

Gonna say the same thing as several others here. Dishonored is really great but the atmosphere/story/gameplay/soundeffects of Thief 1 and 2 is simply untouchable. Dishonored gets a good third however and it is better than Thief 3 for me even though I really enjoy that game aswell

Dishonored is close to being a classic itself in my book, I get that rare good feeling when playing it.

All other stealth games, including the very good hitman, is miles away

After watching the gameplay videos for Theif 1 and 2. I don't think it is the best stealth game i have seen better game mechanics and visuals. Theif feels basic.

Dishonored has taken the crown and is highly rated for all the right reasons, how many games could you replay and then replay again...

Try some Thief videos instead.

You have to try it to know. Watching vidos doesn't work. You have an array of true to life features in Thief, such as leaning forward to look down a railing or out of a window, walk slow, creep super slowly, run ducked, lean into doors to evesdrop and more. It's a stealth simulation.

Yeah...I think the first two Thiefs top it in pure stealth, but Dishonored is definitely way up there.

I feel like it's going to take a few years to hash out exactly where Dishonored sits in the Canon of Gaming Awesomeness, but there's no doubt it's going to be in there.

I don't know about "the" best but I would say one of the best hands down. I still remember being stroked the first time it was announced, pre-order and waiting and if finally payed off! Now after beating it and 4 days of release, I want more!

If you haven't played Thief, go play it. Now. It is hands down the best stealth game ever made, with levels you can actually GET LOST in. Dishonored comes close, but Hitman: Blood Money was better. I believe Dishonored sits at 3rd place, knocking out Spinter Cell: Chaos Theory. Quite the achievement.

Don't judge Thief by a video but by playing it.

And yeah Thief 2 is still the king. Dishonored is pretty good.
