Arkane Studios: Please give us the option to change right ha

Post » Sun Oct 14, 2012 2:14 pm

First off let me say that I love this game. It's scratching my Thief itch that i've been having for a long time.
Thanks you so much for this game.

Now down to my issue. My play style is no kills. Not because I am going for some meaningless trophy or achievement but because I choose to. As it stands my right hand is completely wasted on the sword as I hardly use it.

Now I know you locked the sword to the right hand because you want to have the block option but in all fairness that should be my choice, not yours. If I choose to loss that option then I should pay for the price for my decision.

Right now because I am sneaking and pre planning every move my right hand is hardly used and I find myself constantly switching between the sleep darts to my powers.

Please update the game and change that so can use both hands.

THank you.

Crossbow/Flintlock in right hand, powers in left. Would be great.

I agree, it's not game-breaking at all, but it's almost useless for non-lethal runs, except perhaps for blocking when attacked.

I would think he'd be a better shot with his right hand too (I'm guessing he's right-handed anyway).
But yeah I agree, being able to choose left and right independantly would be great.

But how will it work for fluid changing of weapons? I though this changing was a chore in skyrim and it only worked there because it was a slow paced RPG. Here I like to spam the hotkeys for changing different gear in my left hand, that wouldnt work properly if we could bind gear to both hands

This was done intentionally to make combat feel more strategic. Plus, from a design standpoint, it was easier to have only the sword in the right hand...

I understand that but as someone else mention here it's completely useless for none lethal runs.

As I see it there could be an option in the menu to configure what items would be equipped in each hand, the defaults being the current settings of sword in the right hand, everything else in the left. On that matter if they were to make the sword equipable in the left hand all of its attack and combat animations would have to be reworked. As I see it if they restricted the sword to the main hand and then performed the much simpler task of adding right hand animations for the rest of the items it would be fairly simple for them to implement (as they wouldn't need to rework the extensive sword combat animations).
