Skyrim and DLCs - PS3

Post » Sun Oct 14, 2012 9:38 pm

Greetings everyone,
I am new here of course as you can possibly tell. I had a question that has probaly been posted more than once throughout the bowels of these forums, however, my curiosity for any answers has gotten the best of me. I own the XBOX 360 / PlayStation 3 versions of this miraculous title and am also enjoying the two DLCs, Hearthfire and Dawnguard! I just got the newer model of the PlayStation 3 console a week ago along with Skyrim. I was well informed before hand that the PlayStation 3 was plagued with problems which some resolved through patches released through Bethesda. While I enjoy playing the XBOX 360 version of this title, I would also like to enjoy it on my PlayStation 3 console as well. I have noticed some errors on the PlayStation 3 so far, such as but not limited to, minor lag during gameplay, sometimes the settings will not be highlighted upon loading the save requiring you to load again, minor audio issues upon weapon impact or usage (low quality sound effect). While I knew of these issues ahead of the time and can still live with it, I was very disappointed to see that neither of the DLCs that were officially released were available to owners of the PlayStation 3 console.

I understand there was some performance issues with the DLC 'DawnGuard' on this console and that Sony had even teamed up with Bethesda to aile these issues. I also understand that it is partially because of the hardware the PlayStation 3 posses, such as a lower memory process (256 MB / 256 MB) compared to the XBOX 360 (512 MB / 512MB).

I am sure your telling yourself "Just ask teh question already!! :stare: ". Well basically I REALLY enjoy the PlayStation 3 slightly more than the XBOX 360 but will not convert over completely if it is incapable of handling the only game I can continue to enjoy for days reguardless of how repetitive some things may be. I also find that Blu-Ray discs hold up slightly better than your average DVD or so has been my experience as of late.

Will Bethesda continue to support this console?
Is DawnGuard to be released for the PlayStation 3 with in the near future?
Will HearthFire make it to PlayStation 3?

I appreciate all input from users and Administrators alike!

Until then, I will continue greatly enjoying both versions for both consoles!
The joy of polygamy!

Welcome to the forums!

We have a designated Dawnguard PS3 Release Thread (as well as one for Hearthfire) http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1415410-ps3-release-for-dawnguard-thread-26/. You should post in there to avoid clutter and people getting riled up about you wanting DLC.

I personally, don't hold too much faith in the PS3 ever receiving DLC (or patches for that matter) anymore. I think Bethesda is just waiting for people to kind of forget about it so they don't have to come out and say it.

It's not the PS3 HW fault it's Beth lazy coding that caused the problems just had to clear that up for you. Also welcome to fourms.

Bethesda would probably still support Playstation 3. Releasing Dawnguard to the PS3 is unknown, it has been having problems to it. Most likely, PS3 will be getting Hearthfire soon, as I haven't heard on any bugs on it.

This is a gaming forum. A gaming forum is a place where people who know nothing about game development gather for the purpose of pontificating about game development as though they actually knew something about the subject. Consider it an alternate form of roleplaying. ;)
