Very different games, with very different mechanics. It's like comparing two entirely different things. One's an RPG that's
designed to offer a sandbox experience with a player-designed character, and the other is a first-person stealth / assassination
simulator with a defined story and character. Although you CAN affect some things, this is NOT an RPG and cannot be compared
to one.

No. Before anyone say you can't compare them you can, anything can be compared. With that said they offer two very different things. Skyrim is a vast RPG with tons of things to do and Dishonored is a stealth game that has a much more linear and focused approach.

Unfair comparison either way as they are two completely different genres. They are both great games imo.

However a common complaint is that the gametime is very short if you only play through it once through normal difficulty and combat.

Ive played skyrim 300+ hours myself. I would NOT trade skyrim for dishonored unless some criteria are met, because the longevity of skyrim is pretty much endless. Then again I wouldnt wish anyone to miss dishonored! So if you have played skyrim to death, and your only option is to trade it for dishonored - I would say thats a tough choice. Personally I would do it, but only if I were COMPLETELY done with skyrim.

If you got any other way to finance getting the game or trade in other games Id say that would be the best option.

The game is unfortunately very linear. But each area is a big sandbox to explore with lots of secrets. Replayability in Dishonored is pretty good and the gameplay is addictive and fun. There is NO way you can find every secret/quest on one playthrough (Unless you are a inhuman basemant nerd living on a toilet as a chair with tubes of mountain dew straight to your blood).

Actually AC is much more open world, as you can leave the city and travel the countryside and such, and there are several cities. Dishonored is broken into
missions, each taking place within a specified portion of the city of Dunwall. You have fixed goals to accomplish within each mission, but there are different ways
of doing them.

I'll compare them if you're all too chicken! :starwars:

Both games focus heavily on exploration on player freedom in fantasy worlds. They're both first person with emphasis on sword play and melee combat. They both allow character upgrades and stealth. I think the games are quite similar in many ways.

I liked Skyrim a lot, but I felt like ultimately the focus of the game came down more to fetch quests than world building. Dishonored gave me more meaningful choices and, importantly, the world reflected my actions. The biggest problem with Skyrim is that the world was always oscillating back to normality, so it felt like nothing you ever did mattered.

Ultimately, Skyrim gave me a lot of hours of fun yet left me feeling ho-hum at the end of it all. Dishonored gave me fewer hours of fun but sticks out my mind as a truly great experience.

Is that clear as mud for ya?

Both games are great in their own right. But If I absolutely had to pick one, Ide say I like Dishonored better. Mainly because I took a stealthy approach to skyrim anyway, and stealth is much more fulfilling in Dishonored.
