Ive been thinking lately just how useful are followers in skyrim.
All they seem to do is get in the way or fall to far behind.
The only use i have found for them is to carry loot for me that i cant carry myself i dont know if im the only one who feels this or am i doing something wrong with them?

I find them extremely useful, altho I don't alway use them - sometimes because it doesn't fit the RP I'm doing and sometimes because they make things a little too easy.

OTOH I have mods that make having them around a much better experience than it was in the vanilla game, altho the mods don't change their combat AI as far as I can tell they do give me more options with followers and that makes their little quirks and flaws far more tolerable.

As for them getting in the way, a lot depends on your combat style vs the follower's combat style.

I used to take one all the time when playing on the PS3 so they could carry stuff for me. But when I switched to playing on the PC and I gotta admit, I modified my carry weight with the console commands. I still take followers for the RP company but don't give them things to carry anymore. But they are extremely useful. even more so with the UFO follower mod.
