Am I nuts for not taking the 30% increased draw speed perk?

Post » Fri Oct 19, 2012 7:59 pm

The reason I haven't taken it - and don't want to take it - is because I really like the slow paced feel of the bows, the sound of the string as your slowly pulling it back to release a powerful shot, it makes bows in my opinion, feel good,

But am I crazy, is the draw speed increase a must have perk for all archers? Does it really improve your combat effectiveness?

Let me know guys, thanks.

For combat archers sure. It's great for anyone, but if archery is your attack method (no one/two handed) then yes. You're crazy.

If you're a sneak archer though, you'll be fine. If you have to hit something twice, shooting faster will be the least of your problems. = D

Especially if it's still alive after the second shot.

Well yes, I am playing as an assassin/Thief and my goal is not have anything live after one shot, and if it takes two shots hopefully they won't have seen me! I suppose I will consider it as I level up some more, I dunno how much tougher mobs are gonna get ! Currently level 23.

There's a few that you'll have trouble with regardless.

Seems like you won't need it though, so go without it. It's not like not having it is gonna ruin your life, just carry a few health potions (and stamina, so you can run!).

on my 1st character i used a bow all the way through till level 68. i pretty much used every 2nd point i got on the archery tree only other tree i used points on was sneak cus my build was stealth assassin.

Tbh i wasnt gonna spend a point on drawing my bow 30% faster cus i didnt think it would make a difference but i wanted to have every perk in that tree so i did and tbh i thought it helped alot. 30% doesnt sound like much but when you have got 3 enemies sprinting towards you it makes a hell of a difference. If you use a bow all the time then id recomend it.

Id also recomend getting the deadly aim perk on sneak tree. sneak attacks with a bow do 3x more damage and this helps a buttload.

if your goin for an assassin/theif build id suggest u focus ur points on Archery, sneak, light armour, smithing and enchanting. Once u start fillin them trees up u will be sorted

I don't take it either for the exact same reason. I also don't take the critical chance perk because... get this... I don't like the sound when a critical hit is scored. It sounds like a drum, and I like the thump of when an arrow hits.

Since these two perks are on either side of the perk tree they effectively cut it off for me, so I can't get the final advanced perk. But I just dislike them so much. It would be cool to complete the tree since my character identifies very much as an archer but I just don't like it... so I don't do it.

You didnt miss out on much with the last archery perk it proved useless for me even when it worked lol when u actually manage to paralyze an enemy, if anything, it works in there favour because when u attempt to put another arrow through them while there paralyzed the arrows dont ever seem to register and jus go straight through there body lol

To the Topic Creator - If anything dont waste ur point on the last archery perk bullseye.

I agree with Bullseye, but 1/3 crit is worth it to get to huntsman. You move so much quicker it's silly.
