Art imitates Life imitates Art. TES lore had to come from somewhere.

Obiously you're one of those people that half [censored] read everything. The point of the course is to make distinctions about how Scandinavian lore and its elements are incorporated into social media, such as games. They chose to focus on Skyrim.

This is more about Scandinavia than Skyrim, but they saw that a lot of their students play Skyrim, and used the theme as a hook,

So - this is sort of a literary/social excersise to explore how Norse mythology has culturally impacted and resonated with English cultures? Sounds rather academic when you think about it - give someone at Bethesda a nerdgasm.

Honestly though, while Skyrim incorporates Nordic elements, I found the feudal system to be based on Ireland (Ireland had a High King and a ruler within each province (Ulster (now partially Northern Ireland), Leinster, Munster and Connaught). These territories were constantly fought over - hearking back to old Skyrim.
