How many of you play a pure archer?

If so, do you like it? How did you "build" them? Relate some of your experiences please.

I've played one, pretty fun. Stealth is a natural fit, of course. Poisons are a nice addition, and archers can take excellent advantage of the "slow" effect. Early on the buff you get to damage from the Dark Brotherhood hood is crucial, of course. If you have Dawnguard, I strongly recommend upgrading to crossbows. You just need two smithing perks (steel then later dwarven) to build and upgrade the crossbows, as well as create your own bolts. Crossbows are a great "sniper" weapon, for really big damage up front, but then they're slower to load. I also carry Zephyr (an abnormally fast bow you can get pretty easily from that same DLC) which I use if I need to take on multiple targets at once (where the crossbow's long reload time becomes problematic).

An easy poison for archers to remember is Deathbell+River Betty. This is an extra potent damage health poison as well as a slow, and the ingredients are really easy to gather in large quantities.

Even my most "pure" Archer usually has a a good sword with a few One-Hand perks.
It's very easy to get caught in melee situations sometimes.

As mentioned above, you will probably want to use stealth attacks heavily, so get your Sneak in top order.
I prefer Bows to Crossbows. Bows are faster and just seem more "fun" to me sneaky characters.

And yes, Zephyr is awesome!

I've played stealth archers, and tbh it just feels too easy after a while. Just my opinion, but a non stealth melee/archer hybrid feels more rewarding to play long-term. Archery and dual wielding or archery and one-handed/restoration, with light armour and a bit of smithing seem most fun to me out of the builds I have tried.

Didn't you already make a thread like this? Getting a strong sense of dejavu. Anyway, my last character was a pure archer, no sneaking, no melee, no magic. Relied on poisons to keep his distance (slow, fear, frenzy mostly). It was a lot of fun for me personally. In fact, I'm hoping the dlc can bring something new that will allow me to improve the build so I can have another go.

i usually play stealth archers and they can decimate huge numbers of enemies at higher levels, use poisons on the lower levels and try to get a follower like Lydia who can go melee while you use the bow...sort of makes YOU feel like the sidekick but it works
A friend of mine should me his unarmed kahiit build and with the pugulist gloves he does quite a lot of damage...he later disenchated the glove and use the enchantment on pair of iron gauntlets, plus an enchanted ring and he does almost 40 points of damage from each blow...quite a massive amount for backup
