Ethics vs. progression vs. download count

I'm just curious on how you guys think something can be done about the problem that some of the greatest mods no longer get support from their creators, like http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10843 and http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9778. There's tons of bugs reported with theese mods nowadays, but I really don't feel like dropping them, because they are such a fine addition to Skyrim. Problem also is, I tried to contact booth mod creators copple of times, without result. Could it be made legit to cherish and further develope their mods, without being able to contact them if the community creates a joined urge to do so?

On another note, I'm curious how you people think about the problem of mod creators still permanently make other mods responsible for the bugs created by their own mods. I've found at least three of thoose 'specialists' I was able to proof that not another but their own mods were responsible for bugs, yet they refuse to do anything about it and keep on insisting that others are responsible. The most prominent example is when people still try to use OnInit scripts at character creation with loops inside.

Apart from that, I think it's alaways a good idea to always make yourself responsible for bugs, and then trying to proof that it's not your mod, rather then taking the easy route and denouncing other mod creators.

Very interesting. I believe you should be fine releasing unofficial patches for these mods without permission as long as you have made good effort to contact the authors.

Just remember to give credit where it is due!
