The great Tragedy of Skyrim

Post » Sun Oct 21, 2012 8:23 pm

Let me start off by saying that I indeed love Skyrim.

Now, Maybe I'm alone on this, but I feel that Skyrim Improved on all the things Oblivion did poorly, such as character models and the world itself, while managing to take away what made Oblivion Great, like your personal character development, questing, and characters.

Does anyone else feel that if Oblivion and Skyrim managed to merge, we'd get one of the best Elder Scrolls games? Or, you know, how do you feel about it?

Skyrim destroys oblivion in terms of characters, no one in Oblivion can compare to Cicero or Serana.

I don't know. Sheogorath and Lucien Lachance might put that argument to the test.

Maybe old Sheo, but not Lucien,
He CANNOT compare to Ciecero's tragic and detailed backstory, complete with his physiological issues, and a large amount of lines.

You're right. The Grey Fox and the crazy Anvil preacher were pretty cool too, if I were to add another few people.

Though I prefer Mercer Frey as a guild master and character...

I did not like the Grey Fox.
Everytime I wanted an ounce of respect from that guy he refused to resume the conversation.
What a jerk... I was doing all his work.

I was biased because Anvil was/still is my favorite city, so I'm all for the Grey Fox.

Besides, Mercer was a dike. I mean, he seemed like a pretty competent leader when I first met him, but, you know.

Hey at least he handled his own dirty work.
And he was a badass...

Spoiler
At least Mercer turned out to be an antagonist. For the Gray Fox I had to work until the end. :D

Well, yeah, but the Fox was the leader of the Thieve's Guild for a reason. He must've worked his way up one way or another. When you came along he was trying to find a way to get back to his family, so he was a wee bit pre-occupied.

I have to agree. The poor guy had "this" much room to get back to his love. I'd be a little perturbed if I were him. Mercer was just greedy.
Might as well put Katariah up there too. She was pretty interesting.

Not to mention Oblivion's good backstories for the quests, and the way that everyone had a distinctly different and unique personality.
I mean sure skyrim did have some really good, interesting npc's, but I feel as though the majority of them are just filler, whereas in oblivion they all seem at least somewhat interesting.

Honestly? If There were weapon additions and a fully realized bug fix patch, this game would be pretty awesome for me, oh and if they added grappling hooks.

*le shrug* ...I'm not expecting them to go and rebuild the game from scratch to do that and release it as Skyrim 2.0...
And I'm not going to waste my time being wishful on something that'll probably be five years down the road.

And...Tragedy...? Don't you think you're being a touch dramatic?
It's a video game, no the [censored]ing Hindenburg.

i love skyrim but i think it falls short in areas like factions and just basic options
the factions are all way too short at least in oblivion and morrowind the quests were soo much more interesting and you had more options in morrowind and i liked how groups hated each other so that there was conflict like with the fighters guild and the Blackwater company(possibly the wrong name) from Oblivion
with the College of Winterhold they mentioned how you and the Synod were rivals. when i heard this i was hoping for an actual rivalry not just a small encounter i just really think that as far as factions go they dropped the ball on this one
