As of today, Skyrim has 'officially' become my favourite gam

Post » Tue Oct 23, 2012 6:34 am

Having played this game everyday since release, I knew already that I was on to something special, but I was in no way going to pass judgement on it and claim as the best game iv played - infect the thought never even entered my mind. However, for a game to give me the same 'excitement' feeling that you had when skyrim was first released, 8-9 months from now, your going to put it in your best games you have ever played category, which skyrim has rested soundly for nearly a year.

However, it has been the last month where I was thinking about claiming it as my all time great after discovering mods. The ability to add new content in my game everyday as if its a new expansion/patch/dlc is just mouth watering, and have it there available everyday with new stuff there everyday it just makes Skyrim (for me) the best gaming experience I have ever had. Now Instead of me rambling on for 30 minutes talking about the reasons why its my favourite game I just wanted to let this rest, and hopefully bethesda will see it and be proud of themselves.

So thanks for reading this, not much a discussion thread I know but I felt like I wanted to get this off my chest because its taken years (since Shenmue) for a game to become my favourite, so thank you Bethesda : )

I hope you'll continue to enjoy it as you do now! And there's more to come, more patches, expansion, maybe two... :D

It cost no more than any other game to buy and gives a minimum of 5 times the gameplay and that does not even cover the quality of it either

If all the DLC indications are true, Skyrim will probably overtake Morrowind and become my favorite game. As it stands, it's pretty neck-and-neck right now.

But I picked up the CE, and I have more than gotten my value out of it. Over 300 hours of modding and playing. That's value, even when it cost $150.

Well I've played dota 2 for about 200h and skyrim for about 150h. Skyrim costed me 30€ and dota 2 0€.

*In Skyrim Guard Voice*

"Sorry, Morrowind is your favorite"

But I never played it

" No lolligagging"

But seriously, the game grew on me a lot. I still have gripes since release, but I love it.

Kinda pointless to compare MMO's and single player games in this. It's natural you will play online games more.

I agree wtih the OP. This game, after multiple playthroughs with hundreds of hours in, continually suprises me. I have yet to complete all the quests as each charachter i create has his own story and path he/ she takes in decision making.

Skyrim is very versatile in its 360 format, not including the wealth of options out there for PC mods.

I feel ya man. I've been playing since release day on PC and I'm still playing it. Sure I've bought other games but I just keep coming back to skyrim. I actually at work thinking about what I'm going to do today on skyrim when I get home.

Even if I had played only 1h of dota and 9000h of skyrim, dota would still be the more worth the money I payed for it while skyrim might not.

I think Skyrim would be one of my favourite games of all time if the writing wasn't such total garbage, the characters so one-dimensional, the quests weren't so linear and there weren't scripted events all over the place making repeat playthroughs feel very samey. I love the beautiful world and crazy random battles my character gets caught up in. If there was decent storytelling with real characters on offer, it would be am awesome game. By this point, I'm relying on mods to keep it interesting and still worth playing.

For me, FNV was a far superior game because it had a brain.

Sure it is. When TES 6 comes out, you'll forget all about Skyrim. You just watch. ;)

It's better than any non Elder Scrolls or Fallout game, but in my opinion both New Vegas and Oblivion were better games. I'd rank Skyrim about even with Fallout 3. I think New Vegas was so damn good it's in a league of it's own. I'm not sure another single player RPG will ever be made that has better written quests and NPC's. Makes Skyrim's quests and characters look like they were written by a pre-schooler.
