"Cleaning" stolen items

Post » Tue Oct 23, 2012 10:59 am

So I have joined the thieves guild and have access to a fence. I have been able to sell them stolen items, re-purchase them, and they are no longer marked as stolen.

however, there are some items that won't get clean. The Golden Claw from Riverwood. I stole this right off the counter after completing the quest. I tried to clean it and it is still marked as stolen. I also liberated a statue of Dibella from Riften (the one from the bunkhouse) and it wont get clean either.

is there any way to clean these items? I want to display them in my house, but, the big red "STOLEN" doesn't look very good.

Get a follower, and go to Dragonsreach. Go to the kitchen on the left an down the stairs. When you reach the foot of the stairs look to your left. There will be a barrel in the left corner closest to the staircase. Go up to it and place all the items you want to have stolen flags removed from in the barrel. Then have your follower go and grab all the items in the barrel by issuing follower commands. Then go into their inventory and take the items you put into the barrel from your follower and back into your inventory. They should now be cleared of their stolen tags.

I noticed this, too. I just accepted that some items cannot be "cleansed" and moved on. Sorry I don't know how to fix this.

Normally, if you ask a follower to pick up something it become theirs. If you take it from their inventory, it will be flagged "stolen".

Hasn't happened in my experience as far as this is concerned. It's how I cleared the stolen tags from items like the Butcher's Journal, or the items from the Mythic Dawn Museum. They might have patched it, but it hasn't shown up as stolen for me yet.

Think this depend on the container, lots of containers in dungeons mark items stolen if follower pick them up for some reason.

I checked this barrel in the editor, ownership was none/ none, same on all other containers in dragonreach main hall cell except the wizards stuff.
My guess is that this work on any container in dragonreach.
